| Try hand feeding her, sometimes that will get them eating. You can give her a little nutri-cal or caro syrup to get her sugar up and hopefully increase her appetite. A couple other things to try, cottage cheese, yogurt and the meat baby foods. I had to work on getting my Bella to eat and its not always easy but they have to eat. Most importantly keep an eye on her for signs of hypoglycemia please.

| That is pretty tiny.. I am thinking this is one of your own litter being this young and tiny... I think I would be checking with the vet.. she needs to be eating more.. have you tried feeding her with a syringe.. or tube feeding her if there is nothing else wrong with her.. I have an 11 week that is over 2 1/2 pounds.. I would be worried also.. and other then having to tube feed.. I have not had one at this age and this tiny.. I am sure some one can help you better then me.. anne |

| That was about the same size Lily was when I got her. Lily's small size was due to several serious health issues. Feel free to PM me for any info! Let us know how she does!!! I just answered a similar question on another thread. Here is my reply to that thread: I had the same problem with Lily. YT was a lifesaver for her. Try this recipe that someone here gave me. It helps keep their blood sugar up and they really seem to like it. I showed it to my vet and he gave it a thumbs up 1/2 cup goat's milk 1/2 cup Gerber rice cereal 1 jar of Gerber's baby meat (I used beef) 1 tsp. karo syrup It originally used half and half but I replaced it with the goat's milk because the half and half tended to cause diarrhea. After a few days, you can start to add ground up kibble or canned dog food to this. Each day you can increase the ratio of dog food to above recipe until you are just feeding the dog food. In Lily's case, I also gave her a liquid supplement called Rebound that you can get at the vet's office. This gives them all the nutrients and vitamins they need.

| Also wanted to add that the recipe I posted can be given with a syringe but I would only resort to that if absolutely necessary.

| The way it sounds its as if she's very ,very picky or doesnt have much of an appetite. I really would syringe feed the recipe that was given. Did you get her from a breeder? Please dont take this the wrong way but how did the breeder let her go this tiny? Bringing one home this tiny is a 24/7 job. I hope someone is able to be with her all day long. I understand the sugar issues. I've been through that before. I brought home a 9 week old once but he was about 1 lb 4 oz at the time.Let us know how she's doing! I would love to see this little darling's pictures! Good Luck with your little furbaby Genie Cookie,Lola,Angel & Lucky |

| When I tube feed since you asked.. is with puppy formula.. you need to talk to your vet and if he feels this is needed then you need them to show you how..and buy what is needed from the vet.. that would ensure that she is getting the nutrients she needs... but girlie I would see a good vet asap.. so you know yourself.. we can all help you.. but at the same time we are not there to actually see this baby to give advice like a good vet can.. have you called the breeder about this..or again is she one of your own babies that is just not growing much.. hope to hear soon that all is going better... anne |

| Little girl I got the stuff to make the recipe but she had no part of that...I went today and got the Merrick Puppy Plate and she seems to like that she licked the liquid and I gave her some of the rebound! She drank a lot of water and wants to eat Eukanuba small breed dry but she just does not seem to get it. I tried to grind it up and she got chocked guess it went up her nose! I talked to my vet today and he said she is probably eating but she does not need that much for her size and that if she is peeing and pooping then she is getting enough! She came from a breeder and I am home 24/7 and if not she goes with me! I am trying to add the pictures but don't know how to do it! If you e-mail me then I can send pictures of her! startrightshelly@yahoo.com Thanks and I'll keep you posted! |
