I, too, disagree with your vet. I brought home a very small Yorkie and was told that she would eat when hungry. She was eating, but very little. The third morning I had her, I woke up to find her in a hypoglycemic state. Had I not lived close to an Emergency Clinic, I'm not sure that she would be alive today. As soon as they saw her, they rushed her to the back and started IV fluids on her and had to keep her for three nights to completely stabilize her. Granted, she had some secondary problems I was unaware of (coccidia & giardia) when I brought her home from the breeders, I brought her home on a Friday and could not get her to my regular Vet until Monday afternoon ~ that appointment was cancelled by our emergency clinic visit (and $2500 later!). Do whatever you can do to get food down her...I had to finger feed Lola for a very long time after with baby food, but it was well worth it. She is healthy, happy, 2.5 lbs and the absolute joy of my life today...but I never go far without food and nutrical in my purse. I would continue to feed her as often as she will eat and maybe get a liquid vitamin supplement from your vet...that helped us. Good luck to you.
