| A bit upset with Jackson's groomer for the first time. Jackson got groomed about 2 1/2 weeks ago. She's a mobile groomer and she comes to my dads house so we do all 3 dogs at the same time. I've always been pretty happy with her services. She always cuts Jackson's hair the way I like/want it. Her prices are good (I pay $55 with tip, most mobile groomers around here are $80++). He's been seeing her for a year now approx every 10-12 weeks. Well... the last grooming, I found two fairly bad nicks on Jackson, near that sensitive 'flap' of skin on the back legs, if you know what I'm talking about. I attached a picture, it was the best I could get of the one cut, but it looked pretty ouchie! It scabbed over and has now closed up and healed, all I can see now is a little 'scar' that I'm not sure how long will last. I also did not like the way she cut his face. The first picture attached is how she used to cut him, the second is how she did it this time, the third is the cut. Anyways, I was a little irritated that she did not inform me. Don't you think Jackson would have yelped with a cut that bad? She had to have known she nicked him and I'm irritated she did not tell me about it. So I sent her a very nice, polite e-mail with the photos and all she said was: "I am so sorry! Have the nicks healed? I will keep his face longer." I don't know, should I be irritated?

| Oh My!! I would be very po'ed to say the least. The haircut I can forgive but not the nicks. That would be it for her. My vet charges $45 to clip Jackson - my maltese rescue. Zoey, my yorkie is not clipped. Gina, my darling one that passed last year never had a haircut her entire life. I did cut out mats but that was all. Cherie ps - Jackson still looks adorable.

| I can forgive bad haircuts- especially in a situation like this where the face is just a little too short- its not like the dog was supposed to be in show cut and is now shaved or something- but cutting my dog and not telling me I will never accept- I have in the past and would continue to leave a groomer for this. Sorry- but you can't injure my dog, not tell me and then trust me to leave my dog alone with you again. I need to totally, 1000% trust you with my dogs life in order to leave you alone with them, I never want to have to look back and say I should have stopped at THAT point.

| Yes, I would definitely be angry. I highly doubt that Jackson didn't alert her that he was cut, and it was her duty to inform you. Accidents happen, but it's how they are handled that matters, and she did not handle it appropriately.

| Poor Jackson! No doubt he yelped! The groomer was wrong to not inform you especially because that should have been cleaned and treated. I'm glad he is healing well. I would be furious, but on the other hand, I understand being hesitant to go shopping for another groomer. No guarantee that more bad experiences aren't ahead.

| ohh poor Jackson, ouch! have to be very careful w/that area=( I'd be VERY irritated & a groomer should know that area has to be paid x-tra special attention. her not telling u was a very bad move on her, it probably bled too, so there's no way she did not notice.=( she'll probably be more careful next time...wondering if she was in a hurry?

| I would definitely be irritated. Did she not offer a free grooming or at least a discount on the next one? I also could forgive the cut, but not the Nick... and I also believe he would have yelped at that. I haven't taken Riley to a groomer, yet. I have heard so many horror stories, on here as well as from people in the neighborhood. I have just been scissoring him myself thus far... not sure how long that is going to last though. |

I was also wondering if she was in a hurry. She actually called me that morning and asked if we wanted to move our appt. up because she got a cancellation. I couldn't get there as early as she asked for so I told her about an hour before our original appt. So she did my dads dogs first, Buddy and Lilly, and then I got there and she took Jackson so he was her last dog of the day and I am certainly thinking she was in a hurry (since his face was sloppier than usual, too).

And there were TWO nicks, on both sides of his legs!! One worse than the other but still. I KNOW he had to have yelped. And the thing is I am sure he is not the easiest client, but I wish she would have told me. We have been a repeat customer and we spend a lot w/ all 3 dogs!! We always tip well. We have faithfully used her for over a year now, so I don't appreciate being uninformed.

| I groom Macy myself and nicked her a few grooming sessions ago - kind of in the same area. Hers was a nick, not a cut like Jackson's. I thought she was going to die the way she yelped and screamed. Your groomer knew exactly what she did to Jackson. I also had a bad experience with a groomer. She gave Macy clipper burns under each armpit and didn't mention a thing. That is why I started doing it myself. I felt sick to my stomach when I thought about how it must have hurt to be burned by a hot clipper under her armpits - not only once, but twice. As talented as you are and as obedient as Jackson is, have you thought about doing it yourself? Hope Jackson is feeling OK.

Talented with hair I am not, LOL. Jackson's pretty obedient, but cutting his nails is sure a HUGE challenge. The most I can get done is cutting the hair that pokes him in his eyes... that's about it. I wish I could do it myself and make it look nice, but I'm way too picky with his hair to have it looking like crap from me, LOL. I don't know, I might do some shopping around. This cut will last him for the next 10 weeks or so, so I guess I have time to do some research. I don't want to go back to dropping him off for 4+ hours though, so it's gotta be mobile or in-home.

| I really relate to what you are saying about the 4+ hour issue. The first time I took Cali to be groomed she was there almost 6 hours and was to exhausted that evening she was trembling. I think the noisy environment was also a problem for her -- things are pretty quiet and calm at our house. I started doing my own grooming and just let her hair grow long -- still have not mastered the bottom of the feet though and sometimes she can't get a "purchase" on the floor because of it, but in general we are doing better. If someone "nicked" of cut her I would be furious and they would never touch her again!!!! But that is just me. They could even get an infection from that! Are their other pet owners around that you can get referrals from?

| Did you show that photo to your vet? I'm sorry, but that doesn't look like any kind of cut I've ever seen from sissors or clippers... Glad that he's healed up though.

| That nick is very badI know you have liked her work previous. Could be she had a bad day. but I am sure she would want you to be honest and tell her that you were unhappy with last cutting, Especially with Jackson getting cut. I say kindly tell her. Poor baby that looks sore

| I'd make sure she knew you were unhappy about the way things were handled. She should have told you about the injury, how it happened and why. But beings she didn't I would be looking for a new groomer. Good luck. Hope Jackson wasn't traumatized by it, and can let another groomer clip him with ease.
