I really relate to what you are saying about the 4+ hour issue. The first time I took Cali to be groomed she was there almost 6 hours and was to exhausted that evening she was trembling. I think the noisy environment was also a problem for her -- things are pretty quiet and calm at our house.
I started doing my own grooming and just let her hair grow long -- still have not mastered the bottom of the feet though and sometimes she can't get a "purchase" on the floor because of it, but in general we are doing better.
If someone "nicked" of cut her I would be furious and they would never touch her again!!!! But that is just me. They could even get an infection from that!
Are their other pet owners around that you can get referrals from?
