I suppose I could have lobbied to take him home for the night, but I'd still have to crate and uncrate him three times to get him home, back to the doc in the morning and then home again. The clincher for me was the early surgery. He'll have 12 hours of post-surgery supervision before the office closes at 11. It reopens at 6:30, so the alone time will not be much different than if I had him at home while we're sleeping. And he'll only have to go in and out of the crate once. Am I happy about it? Nope, but I do think it's my best choice.

| SO GLAD to hear Eddie is awake and the surgery went perfectly!!! Bravo, doc! You know best what your baby needs so go with your gut, Mike. As we learn more about how things are going to be, we have to sometimes decide differently so just trust what feels right for what you can control of Eddie's immediate post-op course. Here's hoping he sleeps most of the time he's home and doesn't feel much pain and all goes smoothly. At least the really, really scary part is over!

| So glad the surgery went well. I am sure you can check on Eddie closer to closing time and knowing he is doing well, you will feel better about him sleeping there tonight, & making sure your vet is confident that he will be comfortable. Best Wishes for a quick recovery to Eddie!

| YT Addict | So glad to hear the op went well! ![]() That's awesome that you have the option of taking him out of there all the way to 11 PM! My vet peeps are outta there no later than 6 PM on weeknights and there's no reaching anyone after that unless it's one of the docs doing late records. But it does sound like the best thing for him. He'll probably still be a sleepy boy and I doubt he'll be doing much moving around overnight. Looking forward to hearing about his homecoming tomorrow. I know it's trite to say, but try to get some rest yourself today. Relax if you can. (Yeah, I know...impossible, right?)

| I'm so glad the surgery went well, and I can't wait to read that he is back home with you and Kellie where he belongs. A while ago, I loved reading your moving post about how much Yorkie Talk changed you, and you are certainly an excellent role model for caring for your pups. |

| Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I checked in a little while ago and they said he was doing great. He's alert, not being fussy and mostly resting. He wouldn't eat, but they say that's understandable.

| Glad to hear Eddie did well today! I agree with your decision to leave him there tonight. There is so much risk involved moving ortho patients after their surgery, one wrong move and all the surgeon's work can come undone. I'll be praying that he has a comfortable night, and a speedy recovery.
