| Poor baby! I can't imagine what might be going on with him. It's obvious he doesn't feel well in those pictures. Sending some get well kisses and huggins for your little man.

| Geez, you really can't catch a break! Poor Teddy. How scary. You don't think it's some kind of reaction from a bite, do you? Maybe a bug of sorts that could have been in the house without knowing? Poor guy. Our family's JRT mix got stung by a bee and is evidentally allergic and swelled up sooo bad. Her feet were huge and her face looked like a chipmunk and she actually was beginning not to breathe. It was a good 40 minute drive to the ER but it was sooo scary. I'll never forget seeing her like that.

To make matters worse ITS MY FAULT...I took her and Miss Mia to the groomer late Saturday afternoon because Miss Mia has longer silky hair thats always getting matted up from playing with Mini...shes to squirmy for me to groom her yet, so I sent Mini (I usually groom her myself) for company....totally forgot to tell her Miss Mini is allergic to everything and hypoallergenic shampoo ONLY, no conditioner or smelly stuff...totally forgot. When I got home yesterday afternoon I smelled the perfume and checked her out and panickly gave both her and Mia a bath. Changed the sheets etc., all seemed to be fine...till this morning... I'm so sorry your baby is going through this too, I will definitely include him in my puppy prayers tonight, you are probably spot on with the shampoo...I have to use hypoallergenic everything around here with Miss Mini cuz if she isn't allergic to it today- she will be tomorrow.... Give Teddy a sympathy treat for me...poor baby...

| Teddy looks so miserable, but cute as can be. Bless his little heart. I hope he's much better by now. I really hope you can figure out exactly what is causing this to happen. I would think it would be the shampoo, but who really knows? Have you ever used a hypoallergenic shampoo on him?

| Hope Teddy's feeling 100% soon. I can't remember if you said, but you might want to have some Benedryl on hand (with a syringe), so that you can give him a dose immediately if something happens again, because I know that even the 20 min vet ride might be too long if his reaction gets worse...and often they will...with repeated exposures they get worse...I wonder? Can you get an epipen for dogs? Like they do for people with bad reactions?? |

| Cathy, I am so sorry to hear about poor Teddy's alergic reaction - i can't imagine how scary it was and how scary it continues to be not knowing what caused it. Keeping my fingers crossed that your vet or a veterinarian allergist will be able to figure this out and soon. Wondering to myself if you could have the equivelant of an epi pen or something for him. Thank god for your being so alert - it probably saved his life. Sending good thoughts your way and please keep us updated. Prayers for a break for you and your pup. N |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh my gosh, so glad he is okay . Do you keep benadryl in your dog kit? Maybe clear it w/ the vet that if this happens again, you can immediately give Benadryl at home, and then drive in. Maybe he'd want you to give a larger dose...? Who knows.

| Teddy update Teddy had a pretty good day yesterday but last night had a flare up. All day he was still a little swollen but nothing like he was on Sunday night. Then last night he looked like he was on fire from his mid belly area down to the inner thighs. He was completely red. He also had two large flat patches of red circular blotches on his shoulder but I think those were from scratching. His swelling was gone and breathing normal so I just gave his dose of benadryl and made sure nothing worsened. This morning, his skin was back to white. He is starting to look like himself, but still looks just terrible. It is so sad Many have suggested an EPI pen. This has not been a recommendation so far. I will be following up with my regular vet and possibly the dermatologist vet who is an allergy expert to see if there is any way to prevent these types of reactions. But, my understanding is that it's very difficult. I don't want Teddy to live in a bubble but it is very scary. If I had benadryl on hand I would have given it. I do have to be very careful in this dog as he is an Epileptic. I would rather take my chances to get to a vet than to mistreat my dog. I am not a veterinarian and I want a veterinarian to make the judgment on the treatment. If I lose him to this line of thinking, that is a risk he and I will bear. I try to make very sound decisions for my dogs and am swift at responding to even subtle changes they present because I am very in tune with my dogs. No amount of preparation can prepare anyone for every emergency. Teddy is also very sensitive to benedryl - he is on pepcid concurrently. Now back to what the heck this could be.....the ER vet asked if anything was "new" like fabric softeners, detergents, etc. I said no. Then last night it dawned on me -- I had purchased wool dryer balls to use in my dryer because I have been having some static problems and it's leaving hair on my clothes. The bedding was freshly washed on Sunday night, and this was the first time that we used the wool dryer balls. Could Teddy be allergic to wool?

| i would say revert back rewash everything with what you used before and see how his body reacts. i know i can be super allergic to things like that. hope he gets better real soon and it is an as easy a fix as changing back to previously used dryer sheets. hugs for teddy.

| I am sorry Teddy is going thru all of this. Hope you can figure out what's going on. I know that I'm allergic to wool, don't know if dogs can be??? Have you ruled out getting bitten? with the weather warming up, critters could be moving around. I know that I've seen a few more spiders around lately.
