I think dogs can be allergic to wool. I know they tested Daisy for wool allergy years ago. I'm taking Teddy for a follow up with my regular vet on Thurs. I am going to talk to her about testing him or maybe having injectable benedryl on hand or epi pen or whatever. I think I've ruled out bugs - he did not go out at all on Sunday and I haven't seen any traces of any household type spiders etc. I have my house quarterly sprayed outside for spiders, ants, etc but maybe I should call them to spray. I hate to spray chemicals when he is already flaring up. I'm going to rewash everything. I am also still suspicious of the shampoo and now am afraid to use anything on him. Poor thing.

| Absolutely! I had Neo tested for environmental allergies back in August, and one of the many things he is allergic to is wool. He has not had a terrible reaction like your Teddy has, but he does get very itchy and miserable if he comes in contact with wool or some of the other allergens. It would be a good idea to get rid of the wool dryer balls, just in case, because wool contains lanolin, which could possibly transfer to other things in the dryer. Good luck to you, and many hugs and kisses from my Boys and me! |

Thanks so much! I will definitely ditch the wool dryer balls. I did not know about the lanolin but that is indeed a culprit for allergies for some. I'm a little worried now about laundry stuff. I use Tide free and clear or seventh generation free and clear products but now I'm paranoid about plant/soy based items as well. I don't use dryer sheets - I made my own with flannel and use seventh gen fabric softener - free and clear version. I've been doing that for a couple of weeks now so I don't think that was the problem. The only thing different was the wool balls.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Poor Teddy It is no fun with allergies Taycie's eyes last summer looked alot like Teddy's. Horribly red and would run like crazy. When my new vet was helping me tackle her issues last summer she had us also switch her shampoo and conditioner. So for about the last 6 months or so I have been using Vibrac Epi-Soothe. Both the Shampoo and Conditioner with no problems thus far. It has more of a medicinal smell to it and it is very mild. I think alot the extra-sented stuff I was using previously was making her flair up. So I have had to ditch it. I even watch what candles and other things I have going on in the house too.. her little system gets set off so quickly... ugh However, I think the Epi -Soothe really does help her skin. However, I am not crazy about the conditioner. I feel yes, it does help her skin and soothe it but it is not as moisterizing as I would like for her coat. But I am to scared to try anything or I will end up with a mess.. Epi-Soothe Shampoo For Cats, Dogs & Horses: Pet Shampoo - 1800PetMeds Good Luck Cathy. More Prayers for you all.

YT 3000 Club Member | I hope teddy is better soon, chester is very sensitive as well, I wash everything in all free and clear, and any of his blankets, linens get a extra rinse and I use no dryer sheets. I quit using the the ones no perfumes and dyes as well. Chester had a reaction to the shampoo at petsmart that is hypoallergenic. I use bio groom fluffy puppy shampoo on him and it has worked well. I also use salmon oil for his allergies. Good luck |

| Teddy update Thank you to all who thought of my Teddy! He is still doped up on his benadryl but is otherwise getting right back to himself. All of his swelling and redness is completely resolved. It was a scary few days but I think he is out of the woods!! Thank goodness!

| Glad to hear Teddy is doing better. I know it can drive you nutty when you cant pin point what is causing an allergy. I hope you and your vet get it figured out
