One of the worst days of my life

He slept 2 nights in the bed with Maxine, but Marge and I did not sleep well with him there, afraid to move. She bought him a larger bed, and he slept last night in his Crate, and not a peep. He can get more comfortable in there. Sleeping with Maxine is bad enough. Got up at 3 am for a head call, and she laid on 1/2 of my pillow. We have a King Bed, and I had all of 14" last night to lay on. Maxine and Marge were comfortable!

I'm sure good news has been hard to find lately, so here's a silver lining that I discovered after surgeries on my Yorkies: Your bond with Basil is likely going to cross a new threshold of understanding and appreciation. Both Jack and Eddie knew they were in serious trouble, and they genuinely appreciated that I had their back. I was closer to both of them after their long ordeals, and I swear they were better dogs too.

I believe this as well through my experiences with Buster. Basil, Carlo, and Maxine are lucky to have you looking out for them.

Been checking back for updates on the little guy and it sounds like he is doing great. I know it breaks your heart to see him like this, but he will mend and be good as new. He loves his daddy for staying close and seeing to his comfort. You are all set for your appointments and all will be well!

So happy you are still with us, can't imagine not having you on YT.

Rob and I bought a King bed for the dogs. I just don't get it...this huge bed, small dogs and Rob and I have maybe 24 inches of bed, the dogs have the rest.....all stretched on in comfy....I have one that has to sleep on my pillow between my head and the headboard.....

haha, i am glad to hear i am not the only one who curls up at the corner of my bed because my tiny dogs take the whole bed. why do these dogs like to stretch out side ways to maximize the space they take up on the bed!?

Such a heartbreaking story all the way around. I'm so sorry that you had all of these issues crop up at once, but I am so thankful that your pup is on the mend. I always find it so sweet when a gentleman loves a dog, and takes care of them so sweetly...continued prayers coming your way.

Marge will be taking her parents into the Doctor. Now they complain of not sleeping, and all sorts of physical pain cropping up in both of them. Hips, arms, back. I knew this would happen in a few days after their adrenalin came down. Still, they are lucky to be alive.

I hope they will receive emotional support/counseling from something like a victim support group, therapist, church group or something. They need to be able to talk about what happened, and process it all out, and somehow work thru the horror of it all.

This kind of violation really ticks me off. My father in law was robbed and pistol whipped in the small grocery store he owned years ago in Pasadena, and his life was never the same after that. We eventually moved him to a gated community in Phoenix so he'd feel safe.

Poor things. They went through an awful time. Wonder if they will get an alarm system or a dog or anything to help in the future. Do you know if the guys got in the storm door and then the regular door or through the window? I am so scared of something like this. I sure hope the doctor won't find anything too bad other than frazzled nerves from absolute terror. I wish I could give them hugs.

Both of them are 86. They never open the door for anyone, especially the front door. To make a long story short, the doorbell range, her Dad looks out the side window and see's a guy holding a package and dressed in what appears to be a Mailman uniform. He opens the door. The one guy walks in and puts the box down and asks him for a Pen. In the mean time, a second guy comes in. Not sure why he opened the door but he did. Now my Father in law is not a little guy, but still at 86 not fast, He tries to fight the 2 guys off, and the larger of the guys was huge, knocked him down on the floor. They then precede to handcuff her Mom and Dad. Her Dad again starts pushing them again, so he is again pushed into a chair and onto the floor where they handcuff his hands behind his back. Then they throw a sheet over both of them. Her Dad is struggling to get out of the Cuffs, and cuts his wrists up quite badly. So then they Try to use an electric Taster on him 3 times.....he has marks on his neck, but the Taser did not work. They then search the upstairs, and them move her parents to the basement where they left them. Marge's Mom was able to get back upstairs after they left, and since her hands were handcuffed in front, she opened the door and went across the street for help. Police were called, Marge and her sister were celled, we flew over there.

This is what happened in a short version.

They will not be gettin a dog at 86, and not sure about the alarm. An alarm would have done no good if you open the door and let a bad guy in the house. They live in a great neighborhood. Residents include many Police, fire, city workers, and Mobsters. Police believe the wrong house was hit as nothing was taken.

Oh, totally a set up for old folks! No alarm or storm door prevents that type of entry scam on poor old people. My mother had a similar incident attempted with her years back and it was practically all I could do to get her to open the door up even to me after that when I came to visit. It really scared her, it was pre-cell phone and though I would call to tell her I was on the way, once I got there, I really had to yell and yell to convince her it was I standing outside until she finally got a peephole installed! Ohhhhh, I forgot they were too old to care for a dog. Speaking of which, I am glad that Basil is doing well.

How frightening, this sounds like a planned attack, not a spur of the moment drug robbery as they will pretty much take anything. Are they absolutely sure that the robbers didn't get anything? Really, something like this could happen to anyone, very scary.
