| Donating YT 4000 Club Member | OMG Steve, I'm just reading all this now. I am so very sorry for all you and Marge are going through right now. Please try and keep us updated when you can. Prayers going out for a quick recovery for Basil and prayers of comfort for Marge's parents. No one should have to go through what they did.

| Steve, glad to hear all is well with your inlaws and with Basil. I think this will be harder on you than it will be on him. Best wishes to you all. Give Basil some hugs and kisses from Trixie!!

| I'm so glad to hear he is doing ok with his cast. Very good idea to have a plastic bootie with the weather we've been having. It is so nice of you to keep the little guy company. It will help to keep him happy and help his days go quicker. It's really hard to see them down and unable to run like the little terrorists they are, but that time will come.

| So sorry to hear all this. Glad your inlaws are ok, and poor little Basil will be ok too. I know how these kinds of days are. Sending positive thoughts your way for you and your family both human and fur.

| Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Thanks for the updates, Steve, and I'm glad things are going well. I'm sure good news has been hard to find lately, so here's a silver lining that I discovered after surgeries on my Yorkies: Your bond with Basil is likely going to cross a new threshold of understanding and appreciation. Both Jack and Eddie knew they were in serious trouble, and they genuinely appreciated that I had their back. I was closer to both of them after their long ordeals, and I swear they were better dogs too.

Maybe that can help keep you occupied until then -- thinking of the perfect prank. So glad you are only going to taper back but will still be keeping in touch here. We would definately miss you if you were gone for long at all! Your family is part of the big extended YT family that we have to keep up with. You did great picking Basil -- he has it all and now a boot, to boot! Does his boot have the Eagle, Globe and Anchor on the side? Do the Marines call them boondockers? Or was that just for Navy women's boots? You don't have to answer my idle chatter. Just trying to make conversation and get your mind off the break and break-in (at 4 in the morning yet, yawn!) Love to Marge, Maxine, Carlo, little Basil and your own camo-lovin' self! You might appreciate this: My youngest son designed and drew his own tattoo and had a tattoo artist actually put it on. It is brand new in this picture so you won't see the colors pop like they will when the redness & swelling is gone. It is an adaptation of the Navy Seal insignia (his dad, my DH was a Navy Seal during his early years of Navy life). It has the head down eagle, but instead of the anchor, my son used a cross to mount it on to symbolize that he was saved before he died, and instead of it holding a machine gun, his is holding a sword, a symbol of the protection he has after death. He sheathed the sword to signify self-control and put his dad's initials on it (We called him Roy but that was from his middle name LeRoy). Even the placement, over his heart, was well thought out and even more sentimental when he explains it. He has been wanting this for a very long time. I am not really a tattoo person, but how could I not be or something like this? It made me cry when I saw his drawing and they did such a beautiful job on it, I know it will be a source of pride and honor for the rest of his life. He got a small cross with his dad's initials on his shoulder right after his dad passed. He said now he is done -- no more. Thought you might appreciate this.

| i am so very sorry to hear of this terrible situation! i cannot even imagine how devistating this is for your family. it breaks my heart that people could be so cruel and that basil broke his leg. poor little baby boy! but we all know he is in the best of hands. i wish him a complete and speedy recovery! accidents happen, and you always have the best interest of your babies in mind so you cannot beat yourself up. you would not ever do anything to hurt them. it's obvious how much those furbabies mean to you! and we have all become attached to them too! i will keep little basil and your whole family in my thoughts and prayers. again i'm so sorry this has happened. its so sad when bad things happen to good people. carlo, maxine, and basil are so lucky to have you! a little broken leg will not stop this little guy from having the best life possible. he is so lucky to have you! i am glad to hear that you have not given up on yorkie talk. you would be missed incredibly and we are all here to support you! plus, we are looking forward to the pleasure of meeting you and marge and your little maxine and basil someday soon at a yorkie meetup. i hope those crooks get whats coming to them. its hard imagining this has happened. so sorry again. sending prayers!

| Glad to hear things are getting better with Basil and your in laws. I can't imiagine the horror they went through. I had a small dog in a cast one time, we were not sure what happened but someone he broke a leg. I think it was school bus stop kids come in my yard playing with him and dropped him. Once he got used to having the cast, it didn't slow him down. It even amazed the vet. Bones grew back okay. |

| Basil had a nice night, slept well. Marge bought another Bed for him that is bigger, so he can get more comfortable. Guess we are now pushing close to a total of 50 beds for all 3 dogs. Also ordered another X-Pen for the Family room. He is doing well today. He ate, barked to let us know he woulds out of the Pen, and is quite mobile with the cast. If you open his pen's door, he will try to make the great escape. I talked to Carlo's Vet today while I had him in, and she also looked at the X-Ray and confirmed it should heal 100%. It will be looked at this Friday. |
