| Sending lots of puppy kisses to Jack and healing prayers. I am sure he will pull through like the trooper he is. I love watching the videos of him. I can't believe he is 12!!!! You must have a fountain of youth around there somewhere. Please update as soon as you hear something!

The two-part procedure (which he's hoping to avoid) would be to go in and suture the affected organs in place. Two weeks later, he would go back in and repair the hernia. But with Jack, he thinks all he's going to have to do is repair the hernia. He'll use muscle to close the opening. That's my layman's understanding anyway. He is a board-certified surgeon who several vets I've spoken to have raved about, so I'm pretty comfortable that he's the best to do the job.

I'm not sure why my surgeon sometimes does it the other way around, fix the organs, then repair the hernia. Here's one site that mentions the technique: Perineal hernia

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Jack's just now going in for surgery. Vet said the case before him took longer than expected. Ugh. More waiting.

I think the wrap was to keep it all in and tight.. kind like the wrap I had for my c section.. TIGHT. And to keep her from messing with the stiches. She only wore it for a week. Here is her stiches which once the wrap came off, they went half way up her belly. She is still very swollen there, you can see where the hernia was the puffy part, it is all flat now.
