| Mike, our thoughts and prayers are with you and Jack. I'm sure he will be in a crate for a few weeks like Bella. But soon he will be having fun in the snow again. You might want to think about sending him out here to rest in our warm sun. We will still be here, at least for a few more months Princess would love that! .

But I'm glad you reminded me to bring it. Up. I had about 3 hours sleep, so I'm a little foggy. My appointment with the surgeon is at 10:15 my time, which is 1 hour, 45 away or so. Not sure what time the procedure will be scheduled.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Update Thanks, everybody. I just dropped Jack off. I love the surgeon. He really took time to explain the procedure, and he's confident it's going to come out fine. Lots of risks, but he's the best. He was pleased at Jack's muscle tone because he wants to use some of that to repair the hernia. The surgery is scheduled for "early afternoon," and it's just noon here now. So I'm not expecting to hear anything for four more hours at least. I got to spend an hour with him today, and his spirits were great. He was mad at me for leaving him at pet emergency all night, but he forgave me and gave me some kisses. The sickness he was feeling yesterday had passed, and he was HUNGRY because they hadn't fed him prior to the surgery. He kept trying to scam a treat out of my pocket. Here's a picture I took of him while we were waiting for the doctor to explain the procedure.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Ha ha. Great pic. If he looks as alert as Bella, I'll be happy. The vet says he'll be walking when I pick him up Saturday. Hard to imagine. He's a pretty mellow little guy, so I think he'll be content to enjoy the good life while recuperating.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | I've seen this surgery many times. i don't know how your vet is doing this but it sounds like he's going thru the belly and then through the back end? you said this surgery is in two parts. can you explain? i've never heard of this being done, or the use of mesh, or bandaging for that matter. The only thing i can think of for two surgeries is if its a bilateral perineal hernia. Then we only do one side at a time. I'm sure jack will do well with whatever your vet does. Just remember to give him metamucil for the next month to make things easier to come out.
