| For some reason, I thought Jack had already had his surgery a week ago! [Senior moment, I suppose!] Poor baby, I am so thankful that everything went well and he is on the mend! Please tell him that Toto is getting a semi-shaving in support of his bare hiney! She thinks he's "the stuff" ... she has a weakness for older men! Tell him we are praying that he will heal nicely and be back to his fiesty self before we know it. God bless you, Mom & Dad, get some rest!!

| Yippeeeee! So glad to hear that Jack is doing so well! Bless his sweet heart! He's going to need some snow pants for that shaved area...he could get pretty cold out there in the Alaska weather! Now, you go get some much needed sleep!

| Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Just no significant exercise for two weeks. He says he can be taken on potty walks. He's got an e-collar but hasn't been interested in the area so I've kept it off when he's supervised. If we have to leave him alone, he'll be kenneled with the e-collar. He's going to be harder to keep mellow than I thought. I went home for dinner break, and he raced down the doggie steps and ran to the door. He wolfed down dinner again and barked to go outside right away. Haven't seen him poop yet, but he may have. My MIL is watching him and hasn't followed him outside.

| Smart boy - Rusty is going to be his very own personal electric blankie for a while! I am so happy to hear how well everything is going in Jack's world! For some reason, I picture you taking perverse delight in asking your MIL to follow Jack around to watch him poo! When Roxy had her hip surgery she didn't poo to the point where she became constipated. When I called our vet she said that often times the pain meds will cause constipation. She had us get Laxatone (in the cat section at Petco for furballs - but don't tell Roxy that!) and that did the trick without giving her really loose stools. I'm sure you are already up on that and on how Jack's body reacts to pain meds since he has already been there, done that - just spilled out what popped into my head when I read that! Have you put baby onesies on him? I did that when Roxy had surgery, and she never got into her owie area. (My son that he was pretty clever when he snapped it up - not quite what I had in mind!) Thanks for the updates. At the rate Jack is progressing, it sounds like I won't be feeling so sorry for you that I feel compelled not to be ornery for much longer! (Seriously - do you have any idea how hard it was to pass up the opportunity to mention that he obviously gets beauty AND brains from his mom?!!!)

The excitement gripped me and I would have shouted in glee had the neighbors not warned me about my late-night screaming. So I gave him some "good boy"s and started following him around. Jack is a walking pooper, so it must have looked somewhat perverse to any neighbors who happened to be up -- a grown man hunched over and following a 4-pound Yorkie around with a napkin at 2 a.m. Sure enough, he pooped! First one since surgery that I know of, and yes, I let out a stifled scream of joy. But the joy was shortlived. I couldn't find the poop in the dark! I got down on my hands and knees searching for the poop to check its consistency and make sure there was no blood. I won't go into too much detail because, frankly, I've already overshared. But let's just say I followed the scent to a well-shaped and firm, uh, poo. So, in a strange way, thank you DeLisa. Your sarcasm left Jack with the same feeling that it usually leaves me on the banning thread: Feeling like I have to go poo. :P

AND when it finally happened it was at about 5am in the morning still dark and I had my flashlight to make sure I knew when it happened.. So imagine my neighbors seeing my excitement with a flashlight in the wee hours of the morning. Bella was not allowed out of her crate for 2 wks only outside to potty and back in.
