I think they would have had better luck convincing the jury if they had taken the death sentence option out and just left in life in prison without possibility of parole. They interviewed one juror on Primetime Nightline, and she basically said that she couldn’t have ANY doubt since it was a death sentence, for if she did convict an innocent women she’d be no better than her. I’m not sure if the juror realized that the sentencing part would have come next, and they probably wouldn’t have given her death, but she just didn't think there was enough proof for death.

I am just in shocked, she got away with murder and now she wants another baby, just incredible...

I'm confused. Did the juror not understand that the 3rd charge available for them to charge her w was "aggravated manslaughter" - death of child due to parent's negligence?

Did they only hear the first degree murder charge and tuned out the instructions on the second and third charges (2nd charge was "aggravated child abuse" - death of a child due to act of child abuse or attempted act of child abuse)?

They seemed to hear the 4th through 7th charges of 4 counts of lying to law enforcement. Do you think from what she said they didn't comprehend the different charges? (I didn't see the interview.)

I wouldn't worry about her. She will end up in jail just like OJ... just a matter of time. She has been a law breaker in the past and will continue to do so. She will be bolstered by this thinking that she is infallible and her lies will always get her off. They have until now...but my guess is she will be even more brazen now just like OJ and will do herself in.

As for the jury...if they did indeed consider the death penalty when they were deliberating they were wrong. They were told not to do that! Their job had nothing to do with the punishment phase. That was NOT supposed to be a consideration of whether they found her guilty or not.

I admit to not following this trial, but I have browsed through your comments.

I am very surprised that the jury only deliberated for what was it 10 hours on a major case?

I know our justice system is different but what gives? My neighbour was on a jury for a 1st degree murder charge and they deliberated for seven days!. They found this young man guilty; but as my neighbour said it took a whole lot out of her. The weighing of three weeks worth of testimony, scientific evidence, witness statements, and the severity of the charge levelled against this teenager. And she individually struggle with what the heck is reasonable doubt? Just how much doubt is reasonable? INdividually each jurist must weigh and deliberate that within themselves.

So I ask now what happens?... this baby was murdered.... the case is unsolved... where do the police look now for the murderer?

That's the way I translated her answers. She said initially all but 2 thought she was not guilty, she said this doesn't mean we thought she was innocent, but she says that they "caught George in a lie." So that means he may have been lying about his involvement. I'm not sure what lie they caught George in, I still don't think he had an affair with that woman, but at this point it would only be he said, she said. So the lady who sold her story to National Enquirer may have had a lot with to do with Casey getting off. I really don’t understand how much proof she thought she needed, but much more obviously than in the past. So in a way, technology has hurt us, because we know longer rely on common sense.

I'm pretty sure police are sure they caught the murderer, and won't be going for anyone else.

I wish. This is one of the most disgusting court results I have ever seen. Here we have a jury admitting they think she is guilty....but felt it was not proven. I guess they needed someone to videotape it for them? wth

And, George lied about what? How was THAT proven? And...even if he DID lie about that woman, so what? He sure as hell was not lying and saying his granddaughter was with a nanny when in fact she was dead. That would be his daughter. The only people that we know for a fact lied are Casey and her mother. So that means that Casey is not guilty? Ridiculous.

It is so hard for me to comprehend this verdict. But...we all have to just let it go because there really is nothing that can be done.

She is going to pay. No way can you do something that horrific and not pay in some way.

I think the jury should be ASHAMED of themselves. You notice they are not giving interviews - perhaps they have realized the HUGE mistake they have made. They are even interviewing judges who are shocked. Karma will certainly follow her the rest of her pitiful life.
