Donating YT 11K Club Member | I used to think it's cruel but now not so much. I know they don't ask for it but babies also don't ask for their ears to be pierced and they forget about the pain, it's very quick. My mom had my ear's pierced when i was 9 months old, and not only 1 hole in each ear but 3. Now at 20 they never close, never hurt, never got infected and im thankful cause i don't remember the pain and i like them. Mother's pierce their baby's ears all the time. Ppl at my age now want to do it but it hurts them and takes time to heal. Anyway i think it can be used as identifying purposes also, like a tattoo. I knew a girl that had her dog's ear pierced and he left it there, didn't mess with it. I don't think it hurts them much but if you dog doesn't like things on their ears that could be a problem. You would have to train them to leave it on.

| I had my ears pierced as a baby too, and I'm happy with that I'm not against piercing babies' ears, just dogs ears.

| I think it's cruel and very unnecessary. Human's are different because our skin is not like dogs, especially on the ears. Babies don't normally spend any time scratching their ears with sharp body parts the way dogs scratch their ears with their sharp nails. Babies don't play rough the way dogs do. Also dogs have MANY MANY veins in their ears, so the ears bleed easily. Trust me, I knicked my yorkies ear once a TINY TINY bit and it bled FOREVER. I don't think it's cute, it's very cruel, and I think Tattoes are too. Dogs are not meant to have their body parts pierced, I think that is going way too far. A dog is not an accessory or a toy to play with and make it look like barbie. I think dressing them up should be as far as it should go, JMPO. At least when you dress them up, it's not hurting them and it's not cruel.

| vain, a dog should not scratch it ear often enough for them to cause injury to themselves or the ear ring. A healthy ear itches minimally. No more than an infant discovering something attached to their ear because of sensitivity or just because there's something new there and potentially scratching themselves with their little nails. That's how I view it. I really see very little difference between the two and both can be taken care of afterwards very similarly. If you're to pierce, clearly do it at the base of the ear where it nears the skull. |

| Interesting subject...I have never thought about piercing, but I have thought about tattooing...for identification purposes only, as a matter of fact I have asked for opinions on this. I would not personally pierce Winston's ear, but I also don't see any thing wrong with those that would. He doesn't wear clothes either...so to each his own opinion.

| Earring I think you should not do this, Just get her a sparkle collar. It might become infected or get torn out.

| Yes, everyone has their own views, and I think we should all agree to disagree But I have to say that putting a hole in a dog's ears is nothing like putting an article of clothing on them. My dogs go wild when I pull out their clothes for them to wear. They love getting dressed. I doubt they would get excited about a stud earring. I treat my dogs like children, but I can't deny the fact that they are dogs. There's nothing wrong with that. But like you said, to each his own. I'm not saying that we shouldn't all make our own choices, just sharing my views. That way when people read this thread, they see all the different opinions out there

I would think that it could be ripped out too. What I like to do is to use nice hair pieces and pretty collars. It make them look really special.

| I wouldn't do it, but I did want to see a pic. I couldn't find one on the internet. Thankfully, It must not be a very popular thing to do.
