Never the less, I actually have considered doing this. One cant think of a regular earring, but one that has a special backing and small stud. Also, as with ours, they can be taken out and replaced as well. To each his own!!!

| I find some of the things on here hard to believe, why would anyone put their dog through the pain of having it done just because they think its 'cute' When people tatoo a dog it is for an identification number, not to look cute. Microchipping is the same. I do not agree with piercing babies/young childrens ears either though, not until they are an age where they can make their own decision about it. But then again I do not agree with tail docking, ear clipping, or any of the other things people do to permanently alter their dog for the sake of appearance. Just my opinion. |

| "But then again I do not agree with tail docking, ear clipping, or any of the other things people do to permanently alter their dog for the sake of appearance. " I used to be of the same mind. Is your Yorkie's tail docked? I'm going to get my daughter's ears pierced here within the next few days. I just need to know if the boyfriend wants to fly in to be a part of the procedure or not. And Trinity hasn't achieved her CH. just yet. When she does, I'll post pics. Last edited by yorkieK9trainer; 09-06-2007 at 09:53 AM. |

| Laura, I have a girl I brought in from Hungary that still has hers. I haven't docked it yet and don't know that I will. |

| I wouldnt get a dogs ears pierced. I think it is cruel and unecessary. What if they got it caught on something

Actually, I would never put one in Chloe's ear; I too would be afraid of it ripping. She likes to flick her bows, and she'd probably rip the earring out of her ear too. But...on it being cruel or "not natural" or "they can't choose if they want it or not", well I agree that is just like tail docking--same thing. So I don't think it's cruel. Some breeds have their ears cut. | |

| Have you considered just glueing a little flat stud on the ear instead of piercing? They sell glue for cosmetic purposes that wont hurt the dog. |

| In the UK ear clipping and tail docking is against the law. I would imagine that someone who pierced a dogs ear may well also be prosecuted. I am eternally thankful for that. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Oooh controversal topic Ok - My turn... I think it is a real cute thing and had thought about doing Trixies when I first got her. No, her tail nor her dew claws are done... but I DO think it would be a great addition/tool to use if she needs to be located or verified that she belongs to you. I mean how many other dogs are pierced?? I would not do the tip just because they do play and scratched and they might get caught. Yes I have a baby girl (non Furbaby) and I AM thinking of getting hers done too. I had to wait until I was 16 and I hated it. But hay - do what YOU want. Everyone has their own opinions but only you have to live with your decition - not them. If you do get it done, I hope you'll post picts

| If you want her to be a little different and girly then why not buy her a pretty necklace? My mom has a little poodle that she did this for. She bought a woman's anklet and it made the perfect necklace for Indie! Then she bought a woman's ring and it made the perfect "bracelet" for her. Absolutely adorable!
