| Since Sam lives in my house and under my rules... I do not allow for children under the age 18 to get anything pierced or tatoo'd.... I dont care how much he sits up and begs... this is a firm NO! You are not going to get your ears pierced, Mister! He may hate me but I think when he is older, he will thank me. Not that he will ever have children of his own but he may have nieces or nephews that may look to him for advice.

Donating YT 11K Club Member | I do have these magnetic stud earrings that my mom actually bought for London, or me, can't remember actually but i have my ears pierced so i think it was for her..anyway they were really cheap and she thought they were cute. Well i have put them on London and she doesn't even notice they are on her. She doesn't scratch at her ear..nothing. They look cute too but i always take them off after like a minute cause i dont want her to lose them. I think she feels them but they don't hurt at all.

| I don't think it's particularly cruel, although I think their ears are much thinner than ours. It might hurt therm. I know I've pierced my own ears with a sterilized needle and a piece of ice. I do think it could be ripped out if your dog was playing with other dogs and that's why it's not a good idea in my mind. I also think it's too over the top as far as accessorizing a dog but, again, that's just my opinion. I took my daughter and my 2 granddaughters to have their ears pierced as soon as possible, so my opinion is certainly based on society's rules, and maybe not so valid. Lara2913 - I'd love to see pictures of your dog(s) with long tails. They must be beautiful! I think it's very interesting that tail docking and ear clipping are illegal in the UK. Is it considered unhealthy? Maybe it really is! This is a great thread!

| Otis has never asked to have his ears pierced! I personally would not do it. My shih poo loves to grab Otis's ears and pull! I am a huge fan of the full Yorkie tail. I'd love to see breed standard bring the tails back. I think the europeans have the right idea. I love to see tails waggin and the longer the tail, the better!

| I agree...I know it's the standard here in the US, but so many other countries have made it to where the yorkies keep their tail, and I think it's beautiful!!

| She did fabulous! Got my daughters ears pierced today! It went quite well. No real crying until after the second one was done and those tears lasted all of about 20 seconds and then it was on to giggling and babbling per usual. I was completely thrilled because I was expecting much more of a fuss from a 5 month old! *whew* http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...rightafter.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...er/Alldone.jpg Now the dog....I'll wait on the dog. |

Its illegal in the UK because its considered a cruel and unnecessary procedure, here is an interesting link about tail docking in the UK which discusses both sides of the argument. http://www.dogstrust.org.uk/informat...s/taildocking/ | |
