When you consider that most parti colored yorkies came from champion lines, why would this seem so impossible to you?

My partis all have Champions in ther pedigrees.

It is not impossible for it to happen...however, there is no DNA out there yet to prove the responsible dog that carries the gene, if it is in the line.

Maybe these reputable show breeders don't try to produce these off colors, but these genes are in our dogs whether we like it or not. Not every dog in that line will be a producer but 25% or more of the dogs from that direct line are carriers. And the litter that produced a parti, 75% of the pups will have the parti gene (even if they look traditional).

Dee you are beginning your show career with your new show hopeful. I have one thing to say.

Do NOT ever talk about another known show exhibitor on any venue or make generalized statements about certain kennels, show exhibitors, YTCA, etc. (This will come back to haunt you as there are those that look at things like this as being those to not work with).

What are you talking about? Are these parti colour from champion lines ones that got into the hands of byb's and the champion lines actually go back 3 or 4 generations. Oh you already answered my question when you said your partis have champions in their pedigrees.
And you wonder why show breeders now spay/neuter before selling any pet puppies and are so much more careful before selling to a show home and give a newcomer such a hard time before they will even begin to dream with trusting their line anywhere.
Did you look at your pedigree to see who these Champions were bred to that produced the particolour or the pedigree of any particolour breeder to see where the show breeder was let down by the person they trusted with their line? Or would you rather blame the show breeder?

Well, you know how it is. you hear "stuff' on every good line out there. I have looked and longed for a nice Durrer dog for some time. They had some problems a few years back in the line but as far as I know it is straightened out now. Don't ask me what happened. I really don't know, nor do I care because i know that as i researched some of the best lines out there, I found things that have happened in the past. only one or two instances made me shy away from the line as a whole. My opinion is that any breeder with any line can have misfortune to happen. it is how well that handle that, what they do to correct the problem, that makes the difference. oh, BTW, i think this little girl I just bought has some Durrer but it is waaaaaaaaay back somewhere.

Actually they wouldn't or you would see a lot more tri coloured yorkies.

As I said in the past. Sire and Dam contribute 50% of the genes, Grandsire's 25%, only the first 3 generations are major contributors, unless a certain dog appears several times within a pedigree it contributes nothing......

Parti Yorkie, "Kid's Time To Parti" has at least 4 generations and possibly 5 generations, of every single dog carrying the Nikko's prefix (except Kid). Champions in his pedigree are Nikkos Rolls Royce Ashley, Nikkos Rolls Royce Deja Vu, Nikkos Rolls Royce Corniche and Nikko Here Comes Johnny.
