What do I think of a chocolate yorkie?? I think they deserve just as much love as any other Yorkie But you should not have to pay a lot more. Yes they are said to be a defect in genes. Ask yourself this...If your child had a defect would you not consider them your child?? If you like the Chocolate Yorkie, then you get yourself one. Have an open heart and an open mind. I hope all works out for you and if you do go with the chocolate or any other Yorkie for that matter please post pics! we love pics!

People place importance on breeds and breed standards. I don't see any difference between a yellow lab and a chocolate lab, the same as I don't with Yorkies and Parti yorkies and on and on, I disagree with some breeders the way I disagree with pet stores and puppy mills, not all breeders are good the same as not all pet stores could possibly be bad. Just like an opinion, even mine is simply that, an opinion! PEACE!!!

After reading this thread again, I realized for me anyway, it's not always what is being said thats offensive but how it is said. Many posts have a condescending tone that is easy to take personal. Or maybe I take them the wrong way hard to tell in reading typed words. In any event...nothing will change what each Breeder does. I wish all breeders luck in developing their desired lines and achieve everything they want!

Thanks Paula! I did not post anything in this thread,even though I am one of the dreaded (future) parti breeders. I have, in the past,felt like I needed to justify myself and my intentions but just don't feel that at all now. To each their own.

My baby is chocolate and I think he's adorable...I didn't pay more for him b/c he was chocolate colored I paid the same as his brothers and sisters were going for (regular colored). I think you should purchase whatever color you like. All Yorkies are adorable!

I do not see anything wrong with getting a chocolate Yorkie. I do not like seeing prices jacked up because of a "rare" color, just like I don't like it when they sell "Teacups" or "micro" ones for a higher price. If yo like the different color of a yorkie then I see nothing wrong with getting it. The "rare" color does happen in litters and the puppy still needs a loving home!

On the other hand, buying from a pet store supports puppy mills! Maybe you could research breeders that are selling in your area before buying from them. Ask others where they got their Yorkie from. Good luck getting a second pup!
