Nemo received a bad haircut!!! I took my little man to petsmart yesterday, and upon picking him up I was very upset and shocked after telling the technician that I did not want them to cut his coat at all...I specifically said tip, and pluck his ears, trim his feet, I told the technician I did not want his coat touched, because it finally starting growing, and I told her I would bring him in later when his coat grows a little more for a trim....well it's like I told her to do whatever she wants to him, because now his coat is very uneven, she cut him so close on his back legs and thighs that you can actually see his skin, and then on his back and up toward his neck he is fuller, she shaved his nose and face area, and under his neck which now is all uneven, I was so upset, and I told them i was never bring my dog back there again if I have to chance on one of the technicians not listening to me. The reason I did not want his coat touch right now he is only 14wks, but also his coat is thin in areas, and I just was not ready to let anyone cut his coat, and that is exactly what she did, his coat is so short and uneven in places where it was even before she touched it.... it had starting growing so well. Do you think I overreacted?

Oh poor Nemo and poor you - he's your baby!! they don't listen half the time do they?!! I'm lucky as I have a groomer I can trust and you'll find one too but that doesn't help the way you feel right now! Baby Gizzie is only 16 weeks so not much older than Nemo so I can imagine how you feel. His hair will grow again, yorkies hair grows at different rates - Gizzie's hair is quite long - I try brushing it and get nowhere - lucky if brush makes contact with her hair LOL! Is Nemo ok after going there?

Doubt if you'll be going there again?!! Maybe by word of mouth someone can tell you about a good groomer in your area? Glad Nemo is ok anyway! Nippy?!! He's a baby and was probably playing!! Gizzie nips me too when I try to brush her!! Those little "needles" hurt but they don't mean any harm!!

Sorry to hear about Nemo's bad hair cut, but I am glad he is fine. I would call Monday and ask for the mananger and tell them how unpleased you are. It is hard to find a good groomer. I bath mine at home and stay with them when they are at the groomers. Maddie and Rudy both have the full coat. I am lucky I found a good one that use the have her own bussiness, but now works at Petco. I only let her trim them up. I walk one around the store while she grooms the other and I can see her with them. I know alot of people don't like the big pet stores grooming because of alot of harrow stories, but I think it depends on the store and the groomers. There a few at the store I take mine to that I wouldn't let them groom my two. Good luck on finding a groomer, maybe if you bath him at home and just let them trim him you can stay there and watch them since he is a puppy..........Cindy

Sorry to hear about Nemo! I would have raised all hell and not paid at all. Maybe next time if he goes to the groomers again, be there while he gets groomed? I know some places let you do that at least... But no, it's your baby, and if you told them what you wanted and they didn't deliver, then it's your right to complain about it!

| Gale, had I been in your shoes, Petco would have seen an overreaction!!! I won't allow anyone to take Toto out of my sight, including the vet! Since it's done and there's little you can do except complain, I too would try to get a recommended groomer before I allowed anyone else to groom Nemo. Also, since she shaved his little nose, please keep a close eye on it when it begins to grow out. The hair will be very prickly and can cause eye infections! I had instructed our groomer that I didn't want Toto's nose shaved and she didn't until one day when my husband took her to be groomed! Yep, she shaved it ... I was furious and it has taken months to grow!! Also, if you just keep brushing Nemo daily and let him know that you're going to do it, he will begin to look forward to it! That's one of our favorite times and Toto will even lie on her back in my lap to get her tummy brushed! It takes lots of attention with the long coat but we have just make it "our" time and she loves it!! If there are other things going on during grooming time, the "no" and "stay" commands come in really handy too!!

| wow I dont think you overreacted at all ! i am the same way. Lucio has been to the groomer 1 time and they butchered him!!!i jsut wanted a touch up of his butt feet and told them to trim just trim the hair by his eyes just to neaten him up and get him used to the grooming thing. the lady seemed great and i only had to leave him 45 min. well whn i went to get him i almost cried she shaved is whole face to the skin!!! and trimmed the hair above his eyes i was sooo mad he looked terrible and his hair grows really slow! so it was horrendous ! i havent brought him back to a groomer except for nail cutting i trim his hair by his eyes and areound his paws and his butt. eventually i'll either have to brave a groomer or get really brave with the razor its ashame when you take the time to explain and they do whatever they want anyway! Poor Baby!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrr makes me mad.

hey everyone, hope everyone's day so far has been great. Anyway, I hated to leave him there for them to groom him with out being there, I planed to stay, but after she said it would take 3hrs before he could be finished I could stay I had to get back to work, but it was a lesson learned I will not be going back anymore, I will try and ask around before getting him groomed again, I think I will try with the help of my mom just trimming his feet when it is time. Them main reason i did not want him groomed is because his coat grows slow also, just upset because it had grown out some, and did not look all wild like it did before.....now that she chopped him up after picking him up and putting him down his coat looks really wild, and uneven, where before it was it perfectly parted down the middle now it is so short and wild you can't even tell there is a part there.

Poor Nemo.... I took Gucci to a groomer for the first time and I had to leave her for about three hrs. Gucci at the time was 16 weeks. The groomer told me that she would just trim her and get her use to being groomed. When I went back she looked beautiful and smelled great to. This groomer is a reputable one in my area. Pet smart by us was half the amount but some people who own pets say they are young girls starting out. So I dont want to take my chances... I do know we all have to get experience somewhere, but I didnt want Gucci to be their start.. lol

The first time we had Higgins groomed, it was done very evenly, but VERY short all over. He looked like a different breed. However, it was summer and he loves to run in our woods, so it stayed cleaner....not so full of leaves and pine needles and stuff. One good thing: When it grew in, it was a much nicer silky coat! So maybe something good will come out of this for your little one. We just gave our wiggler a bath and a trim yesterday. Don had to hold him while I snipped here and there. Hardly a good grooming, but a good in-between-groomings job. He hated it. Sigh.
