| Do you know how long it has been outside? You said that you do not know if it is out like this everyday...is it possible that they are home and it is just outside for play or potty time?? My Harley spends as much time as he wants outside and when he is ready to come in, he lets us know. Let's hope they are home and keeping an eye on their dog. Tammy |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Any abuse or neglect IS your business - so bless you for wanting to take action, many people don't. -- I wouldn't talk to the neighbor - doesn't sound like it'd achieve anything -- I've heard of many apt. managers/landlords who, if they hear of an "illegal" pet, WILL ENTER THE PREMISES AND JUST PUT THE DOG/CAT OUT ON ITS OWN!! So, personally - I would not go that route. Is there a yorkie rescue society? Is your shelter no-kill? I would go one of those routes if possible. Also, how hot does it get there in the summer for him? Then again.....and I'm not advising this per se, I've been known to save dogs on my own, foster them, and find a really good home on my own - bc I don't want to risk them being put down. Bottom line is, if you think this dog is being abused, neglected and/or is unsafe - then do whatever you can or are willing to do to get him into a safe, loving home. Best of luck, Ann |

| I don't think you should mind your own business. Florida can get really humid and it will soon be too hot for any dog! Call your local shelter and find out if they have a no-kill policy and then ask them what they do when they get in small purebred dogs, then take it from there. If the answers aren't in keeping with what we would all like to see happen then it would be time to find a rescue group and ask them for help. I realize that there are dogs out there that need a lot more help and are in life-threatening situations for the authorities to worry about but it is simply too dangerous for this little thing to be out alone. Where I live it isn't uncommon to see fox and coyote's running around the neighborhood, I suspect that it might be the same for you. PLEASE do something - anything. Listen to your heart and then let your brain take over to figure out what can be done. Good luck! Please let us know what happens. We care! |

| Go get her! : ) I'm probably wrong here . . . but I'm thinkin' I would go scoop the little thing up, give it some water and food and some lovin'. When you see the people have come home, let them know she needed 'help' . . . that's why you have her. And, let them know, you would love to 'have' her if she ever needs a home. . . .maybe even mention you thought that the building wasn't allowed to have pets (maybe they are babysitting). THEN. . . if you think she is being neglected badly in the future, call the animal control to pick her up. . . make sure you know when they pick her up and don't walk, but runnnn down there and claim her. But, like my husband says . . . I'd have 30 dogs if he let me. |

| I would go and take her. If no one is home no one will know. Just put on a baseball cap and sunglasses so no one will know it's you, and just scoop her up and take her home. If you can keep her great, if you can't just take her to a shelter or find her a home from our great members here. In my opinion, neglecting the problem you've observed is just as bad as the people abusing their dogs. Just my opinion, but I would NEVER just stand there and watch this poor baby be mistreated.

| What a dilema. If you fee strongly please do something but do a little research first as some have suggested. Keep in mind that it much even get her kicked out of the subsidized housing. Some states have strict rules and if you break them you are out. I just don't want anyone retaliating against you. You and those you love come first. |

That's a great idea. If they really cared they would thank you for caring about their furbaby if not they will just go ahead and do it again then you can make your move to report them.

| OMG! I can't believe you guys are telling her to basically go steal this dog. If she is that worried then YES call the authorities but DO NOT STEAL THIS DOG. I personally leave both my babies outside at times and they love it. If someone came and stole my dog for the simple fact that they were outside alone I would be PIZZED. I take care of my dogs and I love my dogs very much, but yes they do go outside in a fenced yard alone. EXAMPLE: You could very easily be in a two story house behind me looking out your bedroom window and see my dogs outside and think they are abused because I live in Houston and it is hot and humid. You can not take things into your own hands like that. That is completely wrong. If you think this puppy is in that much of danger then call the authorities. They can come investigate.

If you leave your dogs alone outside all day while you're at work, I'm sorry but that's abuse. Yorkies are not outside dogs. Theres nothing wrong with them playing outside for a little while alone while you're home, but to have them out there alone while no one is home all day, that's neglect. Just my opinion.

NO ONE has the right to go into anyone's yard and take their animal! If there are obvious signs of abuse that is one thing, but just because a dog is outside is out of line.

that still does NOT mean it should be ok for someone to walk over and steal the dog. two wrongs will not make a right and if caught things could get real ugly real fast! i was shocked to see people suggesting to steal anything.
