| ![]() tie a dog up? you have to be kidding me. that was a real a$$hole thing to say. if my dog is not welcome i don't go. i don't ask my family to tie up their kids in my yard. they do more damage than my little guy just sitting on my lap. |

| ![]() I wouldn't let it bother me one bit. I love my dog as much as anyone loves their dog. And, he goes visiting we me a lot - But, people have the right to make their own rules in their own home. And, it's not my place to argue with that. It sure doesn't hurt my feelings at all. I have a friend who had a bad experience with her pets - pooping, peeing, etc. She has new hardwood floors and new area rugs and has only one cat today. She really doesn't like dogs to visit the "inside of her house," and I totally respect that. Since it's summer, I have visited her often and we sit out on the patio and my little Yorkie runs all over and has a great time. I would really feel bad if my little peeing machine decided to pee in her house. I am very careful with him at anyone's house....even if they insist that I don't worry about it so much. My dog is fairly well potty trained and almost never has an accident in the house if I take him out every few hours --- and he never has an accident during the night. However, I can't guarantee he'll never have an accident at someone elses house.... Don't let it bother you. Go without your dog - or don't go. Personally, I would visit without my dog occasionally and have a good time. Carol Jean |

| ![]() Thank you all for some great advise. Without making this thing too long I live 150mi from my sister. We see each other maybe 1time a yr. With work and all. Last yr I boarded Buddy to visit her, they still had their dog. It was only for two days but Buddy picked up a parasite and it cost me $2,000.00 and four days in the hosp. I will never board him again. It took four months to get him well again so boarding is out. I don't want to hurt her feeings, we never, never had words. So I have to handle this with kid gloves. Buddy is two and is completly trained in every way. I would never ask to bring a dog into anyone's home, he suggested to me to bring him but tie him outside. I feel much better knowing I was not to sensitive in my feelings. Your all right when stated many do not realize how delicate these pups really are. Thanks again for all your advise. When she asks me to come I will tell her her hubby asked also and suggested to tie Bud outside and I will not do that. Then leave the rest up to her. I don't know why I did not think of that to begin with, I guess I was just too hurt to see things clearly. Thanks again, Carol |

| ![]() I would deffinately call her. I wouldnt make her choose though. Like saying " Well I was coming but now I'm not because I'm not going to tie my yorkie in the backyard" I would explain how different the yorkie breed is to a Lab. For one ,their size. I have seen lots of dogs in yards before but I have NEVER ,EVER seen a Yorkie alone in a backyard or tied up ! They are small and the weather couldbe harmful (too hot or too cold) ,plus other things like wild animals or something. Labs are wonderful dogs and actually the only large dog breed that I would ever consider owning. I would have asked him on the spot if he was joking. Whenever we go to our inlaws or friends we always take our 2 furbabies. I bring a pretty large foldable Xpen and also a "dogtent" with enough room for bowls and blankets. I don't allow them to roam around in their home unless they are on my lap or something like that.It is a pain when I have to drag a diaper bag with pee pads, food, bowls, toys & blankets plus the xpen! I just can't and won't leave them at a kennel. Genie,Cookie & Lola |

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | ![]() are you sure he was not being sarcastic? I would hope he was. Some people just dont get the way we feel about are yorkies, maybe if you did take Buddy with you they would see what a wonderful breed the yorkie is and decide to get one themselves. Do you have an ex-pen to take along with you? that would help with him going outside potty, now having just dirt and weeds in there back yard is another issue. Is he pee pad trained? If he was then it would or should be no dig deal. Talk to your sister about it, hopefully you can get to the bottom of it so you can go visit your sister, I wish you the best of luck, keep us postd on what she says. |

I agree with you. If someone doesnt want a dog in their house people should respect that. Besides, the dog will be fine for a few hours by itself, it's not the end of the world. When I bring Rocky to my moms she wants me to keep a constant eye on him, follow him from room to room because everytime he goes their, he has to pee and poo in the house. I respect that, because before she didnt want to even bring him in there! When she didnt want me to bring him in their though, I didnt, I kept him outside. It wasn't the end of the world, and we all survived, and there were no family fights or bickering over it, and my feelings were NOT hurt! | |

| ![]() I'm thinking that if that is the worst thing he's ever said to you, you need to meet MY BIL. Every time he opens his mouth he insults me or my family. I would just get over it and when sis asks then tell her what happened. But don't make her choose, that is very unfair to her.

| ![]() I would do one of 2 things. Either talk to your sister about it and see if the 2 of you can convince your brother-in-law to allow the dog inside (although once inside, you still may be unhappy with how he treats your pup). Or, see if you can arrange to leave your pup with a dog sitter next time. Sisters are few and far between. I don't recommend that you let this interfere with your visiting her.

| ![]() Me again - I didn't mention that I have two dogs, had two cats, and have two birds - so my house is really a zoo....... But - I have a friend who wants to come from out of town and bring her "three daschunds" along with herself and her husband. This is after she has told me over the phone for the last two years that her three dogs have ruined her carpet and she had to get hardwood floors. Well - My two dogs have certainly had their fair share of accidents in my house - but this is where they live...and I take them out often and one wears a belly band, etc., and we work hard to keep accidents in the house down to a minimum. So - what should I tell my girlfriend???? There is no way I want her three dogs staying here for several day, sleeping here, and running all over my house. Well - probably because I had had a couple glass of wine - I just stepped up to the plate and told her "NO!" I said I have enough problems with the pets I already have - and certainly don't need any more....... I told her that she is welcome to stay at a motel with her dogs and visit me every day all day - or leave her dogs at home and stay with me at my house as long as she wants..... Believe it or not - she just laughed and said that she totally understands....makes sense to her. Anyway - it hasn't hurt our friendship one bit - and she's still coming to visit. By the way - I have had many people with a dog stay here with their dog. I don't mind a house-broken dog staying here all. It is never a problem. And, occasionally there has even been an accident - which is not the end of the world....... it just that I can't see having THREE (already known not housebroken little guys) staying here for several days. I would be going crazy. And - if they each pee'd three or four times a day and stayed her for three days - I would have about 30-plus accidents on my carpet. Not for me! And - I'm easy going - and love dogs to pieces..... apparently there is a limit for everyone. Carol Jean |

| ![]() I agree.... If I had a sister I wouldn't jeopordize our relationship. You might have to feel sorry for her being married to such a heartless guy. ![]() Quote:
