In regards to Rebel and staying at your mom's house, many times my friend and I would send a rescue to the other person's house to evaluate after we had them for awhile. It was always amazing how another person could see something in the dog we had missed. Let us know how Rebel is doing.

| ![]() Wow Kimberley, I don't have a clue why Rebel would be acting different except for the trauma of getting out of the yard. I don't know why but it does seem very weird that she gave him a bath? I hope he gets to feeling better very soon. I think staying at your mom's a week will be good for him. Maybe he needs a break from the Puppies. Is he good friends with Gracie? and now he has been pushed out due to the puppies? Please let us know if you have any more info- this is very interesting. |

| ![]() No one thinks badly of you for letting him have a little vacation at his Grandma's. I hope whatever it is that has scared him will ease during the time he is at your mom's. Maybe he needs a quiet atmosphere without other dogs and kids to feel safe and he'll return his old self. ![]() |

| ![]() No freekin' way!! You are a GREAT doggy mom, Kimberley and anyone who says differently has to deal with all of US!! I am guessing Rebel did experience MUCH trauma, not to mention possible bruising from wiggling under the fence. AND THEN someone he did not know at all (gasp) gave him a BATH!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() I am guessing the poor boy is completely in need of a mental health break, and I think you did the right thing by leaving him with grammy and his girlfriend Lily. Give YOURSELF a break, my friend, and be nice to YOU! Good luck revamping your fence! Keep us in touch how Rebel is behaving once you get him home, and let us know what your mom has to say about how things are going there. I am betting with some passage of time, the boy will be fine. ![]()

| ![]() Oh no!! Kimberly, that's so scary that Rebel got out like that! I'm sure that something scared him while he was out and that's probably why he's acting out. Hopefully, he'll get back to his regular sweet self soon. He's probably confused as to what happened, and once he realizes he's safe again, he'll be okay ![]()

| ![]() If I found a dog, the LAST thing I would do is give it a friggin bath? That is the freakiest thing I have ever heard. It sounds to me like he was traumatized and I think you are doing the right thing for now. You have to think of everyone else and get the yard safe for him. When he returns, spend some time walking with him. (sorry, I sound like Caesar Milan) Get him back in tune with who is the boss and how things work in your pack, I mean family. I would also contact the lady and ask her more about her incounter with him. All sounds very odd. |

| ![]() Kimberley, So thankful that Rebel was found!!!! Could Rebel be injured somehow that doesn't readily show? Dogs who are hurting can be very grumpy. You may want to get the vet to check him out. He may also have some thoughts on other possible causes for the personality change. As far as the fence. My suggestion would be to dig a trench at the base of the fence and pour a concrete curb that is 1/2" or so below the boards. You could even do it yourself with Sack-crete (not sure that is spelled correctly), but it contains all the ingredients, you just add water. Our dog run is Yorkie proof. We have a concrete curb with a steel tubing fence with the tubing spaced close enough that even Zoe can't get out. This is because of escape problems we had with the traditional board fences we have here in our "hick" town. The steel fencing is expensive for a whole yard, but the concrete curb with your exising board fence should do the trick. ![]() |
