I haven't been checking using a flea comb, but having said that, his hair is pretty thin and fair, so it has been easy to locate the little buggers.
The food that I have been feeding him is Iams for small dogs. Going out now to search for a better food with no corn, as I understand that Yorkies can have an allergy to this.

Thanks for this great thought. It was originally suggested by my daughter's friend, who works at a vet, that this may be his problem, so I had his glands done first. The vet said that they were not bad at all. Still searching for the problem to his itching and will work on getting better food for my little one

Our Schnauzer used to do that sporadically - he used to itch his right ear with his right back paw, then lick that paw 'til it almost hurt....then it almost used to spread around the back end of his little body....

I truly think you should get him to your vet, see if they can identify the root cause, else you could be going round in circles....I wish you luck, and hope you can sort it out soon Sally + Harry x

Regarding going to a vet, unfortunately I have yet to find a good one around where I live. I will search for that also.

If you're planning on changing food, please get ones with "no grain". Regarding flea comb. Even if he has thin hair and it's easy to find the fleas, I'd still like to recommend you use a flea comb. Only b/c it can help catch flea poop off the body.

I hope he gets better soon and you find a good vet!

Whatever you do do not get his glands drained unless they are swollen or infected. Doing so regularly actually is not good for them. I discussed this with my vet as I've ward any groomers do it as part of their cut and blow dry service.
Get ad good a food as you can if you are staying will kibble. No corn grain rice soy beet pulp "meat meal" (usually means dead animals ground up). Find one with mostly meats and fish.

Thanks for your comments. I didn't realize I should be using a flea comb. Why is it important to get all the flea poop?
Last night I went to our local PetSmart and spoke with a friendly, helpful and passionate about dogs employee He was so great I took the time after speaking with him to let his manager know. I ended up purchasing Blue Buffalo. Fed some to Bailey and he was so excited, he seemed to be as excited as they were his treats. It was suggested that we wean him off of his old food, which made sense. Having said that, he took out the old kibble and only ate the new. He knows good food when he sees it

Good to know about draining his glands. I did check with my groomer and they don't do that

This is not really true. Peanut started to butt scoot. His were not infected or swollen. I took him in and the Vet told me there were full. At the time he was getting them done at the groomer. However she wasn't expressing correctly so they would fill up faster.

Groomer's don't go all the way in, they express them from the outside. This does not get all the fluid out and they will fill up faster.

Always, ALWAYS get their anal's expressed at the Vet.

My vet won't express them unless they are full and does believe that regular, routine expressing may cause overfilling down the road with Tibbe. So we only do Tibbe's when he is scooting, obviously sitting and squirming, butt-biting, not eating normally.
