Baily's been biting his back side:( Hi Folks in Yorkietown! My Bailey had fleas a month or so ago and haven't found any lately, but he is biting his back and lower to his tail, as well as on his leg. I think this started before his fleas, so not convinced this is the related. Not sure if this may be an allergy or ??? Any one have any experience with the same or any thoughts on what could be causing this? He has been eating bully sticks and loves them but I have eliminated these to see if he stops biting. I feel soooo bad for him - I wish I knew the answer. Thanks in advance to all that reply:) Hope that you all have a great day! Cheers! |
Megan used to do the same thing, she had several allergies, I'd take him to the vet, and see what they say. Better safe than letting them itch. Cheers Quad:aimeeyork |
Dolly used to do the same thing and then I changed her food to canine caviar and it cleared right up |
If you've ruled things out and he's still scratching/biting like that, then I think the best thing is for you to take him to the vet. Have you been using the flea combs to check him? It also might be a seasonal thing. If you cut out all the treats, chews, environmental and he's still like that.. It could be the food. What are you feeding him? I think there are chances where dogs develop allergies just like humans. |
My first thought was fleas....then allergies...then anal glands....but what do I know?!!? :) Our Schnauzer used to do that sporadically - he used to itch his right ear with his right back paw, then lick that paw 'til it almost hurt....then it almost used to spread around the back end of his little body.... I truly think you should get him to your vet, see if they can identify the root cause, else you could be going round in circles....I wish you luck, and hope you can sort it out soon :) Sally + Harry :aimeeyork x |
My pup is doing the same thing. I think it may be allergy's. I switched him to Blue Buffalo and I am thinking it may be that, but he loves the food. |

You may want to look at the ingredients of the food you are feeding and see if there is a potential for allergies there. maybe find something online or from some of the owners here on a natural home cooked diet. May I recommend a bath and then spray half and half distilled water and organic apple cider vinegar all over the dogs body especially the area he's biting. It will soothe and heal any irritated areas. What food are you giving him? |
