Whatever you do do not get his glands drained unless they are swollen or infected. Doing so regularly actually is not good for them. I discussed this with my vet as I've ward any groomers do it as part of their cut and blow dry service.
Get ad good a food as you can if you are staying will kibble. No corn grain rice soy beet pulp "meat meal" (usually means dead animals ground up). Find one with mostly meats and fish.
