I don't want to support this type of breeding. And no yorkie will ever be as pretty as Rosie is to me. I just thought it was unique. But I don't want to ever encourage this type of over charging situations. I will keep my eye open at rescues. I look on petfinder.com all the time. There is a little cutie on there now. He is in Tulsa which is about 2 1/2 hours from me. His name is Benji. And then there is Romeo... why do I look on this site. Part of me wants another then part of me thinks Rosie is pretty demanding of my full attention. I just thought the golden color was so pretty. Maybe this is divine intervention telling me that Rosie is enough!!

Hey, if the stars align, you find a pup that not only looks cute (which doesn't right???) and seems to have a personality that matches well with Rosie, why not? I'm waiting for the stars to align for Kaji and me.

| They are registered as Tan, and you have to provide 2 photos of the dog along with the application.

| The Golden Yorkies are very beautiful, the quality keeps getting better and better. I don't have one but I do admire some of them. If you google Golden Yorkies you will probably find some good pictures and/or websites to find out more about them. Teresa |

I hate the stories I have heard (from a friend who had boxers) about recessive gens producing white boxer puppies and they were put down because they were not "standard" - my friend had a white boxer his family rescued when she was a child.. and really loved that dog. Hope the story is not true!! So ... Rosie... you may get a brother or sister?????

| That's not very nice..."non-reputable" hmmmm not everyone is YTCA members...or likes their standards...just because someone breeds off colored or non show or fault colored Yorkies doesn't make them non-reputable by any means...things like breeding practices, care of their dogs, placement concerns etc make them reputable and non-reputable in my opinion. Of course so does their sale practices. Given many off (or fault) colored Yorkies are bred by greeders, unfortunately some people only use color as the breeding quality and that is dangerous. Most people getting a Yorkie are not looking for a show quality Yorkie, they are looking for a pet. But still the generalization in saying someone is non-reputable just because they don't breeder per YTCA standards doesn't make them such...I have a Parti and think they are the most wonderful...weather the YTCA agrees or not...finally the AKC does that's good enough for me. My Elvis is a black and silver Parti on his papers Yorkshire Terrier - Above is the Parti Yorkie Club, they have their own shows for Partis and can give out information on other fault colored Yorkies to people. There is also the Biewer Club, personally I think its silly they are all Yorkies. Last edited by concretegurl; 02-20-2011 at 03:06 PM. |

| There are 2 different genes involved in the golden yorkie's color. One gene causes the gold yorkie to have black hairs mixed in their coat (sables) and one gene cause goldens to be born with out any black hairs. The exception being if a sable has two sable genes (one sable gene from mom and 1 from dad), they may have minimal black hairs in their coat. Attached are 2 photos of my sable girl as a new born and 4+ months old.

Also no color variations aren't the same as "teacup" breeding, well it can be if people market them and sell them in certain ways, only breeding for size or color being important...as greeders and non-reputable breeders. The issue with teacups is to purposefully downsize, cause health issues, and breeding dogs too small to breed, creating a standard that is not natural. If a dog is produced smaller than usual well then it's just a small dog "teacup", it's the selective unhealthy breeding of small dogs to make small pups that is non-reputable and unethical vs The issue with colors is only that...color... unless someone puts color above all other standards that too unrepeatable and unethical. My "teapot" came out of two standard sized parents...both of standard color...he's also a Parti.

They are considered a fault for showing purposes, but the color occurs naturally, they arwe not mixed, they are purebred and AKC registered.

I think the non-reputable part would only apply to breeders who over charge unknowable people. Also-- like you said -- if they are breeding just for the color not for other good health qualities. From what I have read, most, if not all YT members want healthy puppies- they love their yorkies what ever the color!!! Some are "purest" and focused on what a standard Yorkie is -- which is fine, I just don't like people putting down a person who wants a HEALTHY dog that is different. Or falls in love with a yorkie that is different. They are all wonderful dogs!! GEE if we stayed pure on the yorkie breed.. it would still be like the ORGINIAL YORKIE that was breed to hunt rats.. and surly not 3 to 7 lbs!!! So good honest healthy change is not a bad thing... if done right.
