I went to my groomers and she had a Yorkie that was so pretty. Well not as pretty as my Rosie but ... Anyway, this Yorkie was all one color. She was a light tan, almost blonde looking. I was told this is a "golden yorkie"? Does anyone know if that is the true name or are they called something else? I wish I had a picture but maybe some one will know what I am talking about. Any ideas?

I went to the website above and they said of some of them...AKC Registered. How? Are they lying to AKC about their coat color?

Ok, so are they rare then if they are a color fault? I guess I thought she was so cute because she looked different. I don't know!! I am weird I guess. Sometimes I think I want to get another Yorkie so Rosie will have company. Then sometimes I think I shouldn't. But I fell in love with this one and would have taken her home in a heart beat!

They aren't lying to AKC. You can register a yorkie of any color, but they aren't able to be shown due to the fault.

The one called Bella on that site looks like the one I saw. I think they are adorable!! But wouldn't buy from her! She obviously don't care who she sells to!

If they aren't lying to AKC then what color would they write in when registering the pup? blue/gold? blue/tan? black/gold? or black/tan? Maybe I am missing it but I sure do not see the just "gold" color.

They can be reg. tan if you go on line to akc.org I use to have one she was beautiful much lighter colored than the ones on this site and finer features

I have looked and looked and please don't take me wrong but, where in the world is it on AKC.org that there is a reg tan?

There is only one class of yorkie. What you are describing is a yorkie with a color fault and can be registered with the AKC. Non-reputable breeders try for these off colors and then market and sell them as "rare."

Ok, then maybe this is not the direction I need to look in.

I have seen golden yorkies before and think they are quite beautiful- however, I would not buy from a breeder who was specifically breeding for this color- if one popped up in rescue though, or a reputable breeder just happened to have one I would take one in a second.

If that's who you want, you should get him/her. Just make sure that you're not overcharged for the "rare" coloring.

Wow i think they are pretty but I only paid 1/2 their cost for my Charlie his colors are blue and silver and I wouldnt trade him for no amount of money. you know now that I think of it... when I was in Maine last summer I saw one of those golden yorkies and the lady was telling us about how rare they were and how expensive it was to get it, I think she told us she paid $1500 she was very excited to have one.
