Our yorkies, and our little chihuahua love to put their butts in our face, it crack me up (no pun intended) because they will wait for Don to fall asleep and pounce on him and play with each other..too funny!

I have only had 3 cherry eye pups in 20 years, I know a show breeder who uses my vet who I got a cocker from yearsss ago and she has so many cherry eyes being fixed all I have to say is cherry eye lady and the girls in the office ALL know who I am talking about. And BTW, Missy (the cocker) had to be PTS at age 6 because she became paralyzed and had other health issues. I HATE this breeder, she is very well known and the things I saw at her place made me sick! ok thats another subject I suppose, but I miss that dog still after 9 years. Her daughter died at 14 months from liver failure and I got Hanna, my heart was so broken. then Missy was gone when Hanna was about a year. I have not gotten another cocker since. Just FYI I was required to breed Missy 2x and she was to get half the litters. It was a co-ownership and I was an idiot for agreeing.. however I didn't know better at the time.. Well thats another subject I guess and it's a very long one to boot! but she is still breeding! Once I was there and she had 45 puppies. Yes there is ways to make money on dogs, sometimes I do make enough to pay a bill but that is about it. I have an account just for my dogs, all puppy money goes into that and then all vet bills, testing, food, etc comes out of that money. I absolutely ADORE my dogs, and all dogs. And I love breeding. The ones making big bucks is the commercial kennels and yes I am totally against them!! I am not against people using kennels except for the toy breeds like yorkies and chihuahua's and other little dogs. But The kennels should be state of the art, warm, cool, and no more then 50 dogs. Like I said before here in WA state no breeder can have more than 50 dogs. Including commercial breeders..Boy are they ticked off. I see no reason for any more than 50 breeding dogs. Also, I have noticed lately that almost all pet stores here have quit selling purebreds and are selling mixed breeds only. And I mean really stupid mixes. And sad to say, most are pretty ugly.. but they sell like hotcakes to lumberjacks! Ok, shutting up now because I completely forgot what I was talking about in the first place..LOL Picture is of Missy and Hanna when she was a baby Last edited by mommadog1; 02-07-2010 at 01:20 PM.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | [quote=Mardelin;2992895] Cherry eye is the term used for the prolapse of the gland of the third eyelid. It may occur in one or both eyes. The condition is most common in young dogs, six weeks to two years. is a lot of information on the net about it, I saw a blood hound puppy with this condition sometime ago at my vet. it is so sad. I never seen a toy dog with it tho. hugs, Carmen innj |

| [quote=Mardelin;2992895] Here you go Mary: cherry eyes in dogs - Google Search I have never had this in any of my dogs or pups! I have seen it at the vets when I was a tech. Mommadog1 - JMEO- it is important to show so that our dogs can be evaluated. We want to make sure that we do not wear rose color glasses, since we are the mama to our dogs. So best to have an expert that knows the standard well to evaluate our dogs. |

I breed cockapoo to cockapoo so it is hard to say for sure if it is hereditary. I have read it isn't but I question that with breeders like the lady I dealt with years ago who had several in each litter..Cocker spaniels. I know it can happen to any breed, just some are more prone to it because of the eyes, like mainly droopy eyed breeds. I never had it happen with my cockers when I was breeding and showing them. I breed 2nd and 3rd generation cockapoos and have for about 8 years. I have 3 females and 1 male right now.

| [quote=Mardelin;2992895] It is a prolapse of the third eyelid. I have a friend who rescues Bostons and they often have them.

They used to just snip them off and stitch (while under) and that would cause dry eye, but they don't do it that way any more.
