Excuse me...if you want to debate the issue..fine..put your reasons out there but to say, "people have to much time on their hands" is not a valid reason. I have worked years to end animal pain, researched many of these issues and laws and donated hugh amounts of $$$ to help end puppymills and byb's. I think until we make people understand how cruel we are to animals nothing will change, and this is a small way to make people think about what is going on.

P.S. If a human makes the decision to hurt their bodies that is their choice...an animal doesn't have a choice.

But humans getting cosmetic surgery is totally different, just saying. Most people choose to get breast implants, or a face lift, etc, and I don't have anything against it. If it makes them happy... whatever, go for it. Dogs don't have a choice so it's different.

yeah its different, but why then do people make such a big deal out of cosmetic surgery, b/c it changes how someone looks... doesnt change the fact that they are still the same person... people choose to dock a tail it doesnt change the way the dog acts just the look... do you see what I am trying to say?... so it really shouldn't matter, as long as its done corretcly and by someone who knows what they are doing...

you have worked to help end animal cruetly and thats great,... but shoveing it in someones face and telling them that its wrong is what i mean, I am not saying that you are doing that... its good that you want to end animal cruelty so do I... but i hate to say this but the majorty of people don't want to hear about it... unfortunely thats the sad truth... you can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink... know what i mean... sorry I didn't mean to offend you if I did

well until a dog or any animal can think for them selves... thats just how it has to be...idk... its sad that humans have to be responsible for everything... I wonder what it would be like if dogs could really tell us how they felt...that would be so cool... I wouldn't have to guess at what they were trying to tell me...

No one is shoving anything in anyone's face...it is being discussed as adults and I can tell you that many people have changed their minds since this topic first started being posted on YT...as Alison has stated. I also know many people have not thought about it and won't post their thoughts but these threads have given them an ahhhhh moment...way way or the other.

We are one of the only civilized country still docking tails, so you think the rest of the world is wrong and we should just ignore this.

I have learned a lot on YT, and I have had my mind changed on some issues... for instance I had NO IDEA there were chocolate covered Oreos! I'll have to try some and report back on my findings.

Since when does the U.S. do anything that the other countries are doing...I don't think that the rest of the world is wrong but just because other people are doing it why should we... as the old saying goes... if your friends jumped off a bridge would you? ... didn't mean to ruffle your feathers... sorry

Here is where I different from some that disagree with docking...as long as tail docking doesn't interfere with the health of the dog and it hasn't and as long as it's in our standard I will dock...I do like a docked tail BUT here comes the difference...IF and WHEN the standard calls for a full tail I will also support that even tho I do prefer a docked tail but I would show an undocked tail or docked tail when the standard changes. If I knew in my heart of hearts that docking a tail would harm my babies health wise I wouldn't do it...AGAIN I will state I prefer my dogs to most humans anyway because they are more loyal than any human will ever be. I am fortunate enough to have my kid and grandkids love me and take me for who I am but if they were to choose to decide otherwise I do know my yorklets will always love me tail or no tail because they run my house and just let me live here
So whether you agree with me or not I assure you my yorkies live better here at my house better than I do and I believe in docking

I didn't mean to offend you...just creating a confusing mistatement in your claim that they "have never been docked there", when in fact, they have. It's not something that the US decided to take it upon themselves to change...

I'm sure there were dogs prior to 2007 due to breeder preference. If I'm not mistaken (and I may be), doesn't the standard still include the option of a docked tail? I know that it is illegal to do now, but doesn't the standard there still allow for both?

According to the link Quicksilver posted: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_dog, it's not banned in England, but restricted, and does not include working class dogs who might injure their tails through working, but this does not include dogs just up for conformation. To me, it's like saying that active dogs do have a very real problem of tail breakage. One thing I found interesting is that it's not banned or restricted in Ireland.
