When DH and I got together he already had a dog, a doberman/german shepard mix. I begged and begged him for a little yorkie and he kept telling me not until after Thor was gone. It took a couple of years but once I found Gizmo and showed him a picture of him he finally gave in! He said that Gizmo looked so cute he couldn't resist! Now he always says how cute Gizmo is and how he's the best and how did we ever live without him before? Just keep on nagging him about it and I think he'll eventually give in! DH loves Gizmo so much now that he agreed we could get another one! Good luck!

But I am older, I have come to know which buttons I can push and which ones I cannot. But he has also come to know that if I had to make a choice, he might not fare so well. LOL I trained him well.

Only you know your husband. But the way I see it one of yiou is going to be unhappy, it may as well be him.

If you've read ALL OF MY POSTS, you would see that I have been advocating for equality this entire time. I do not believe husbands should "do as they please" but I also don't believe the woman should either.

I also mentioned I didn't want her fighting over a dog in her marriage, and I don't think he's being selfish if he doesn't get his way.

I think that he's got the entire picture in mind, and she doesn't.

Ha Ha! I just told DH about this thread and I said to him "Remember when you didn't want me to get a dog?!" He told me to tell you to just do it! Screw your hubby, he should support you know matter what!

It's easier to beg for one dog, then it is to add on and make Yorkie the 3rd. Especially if he's not use to lap dogs. It's a lifestyle change, and not to mention the extra expense.

It's not just "her" paying for it, and we all know that. I highly doubt marriages are solely based on making your own money and not consulting the other with these kind of decisions. Otherwise, it's not a marriage.

Ya pretty much. At one time I would not have done that, but I am older and wiser and more sure of myself. In my first marriage I would not do anything without permission. Well that did not work out too well. Had I done more of what I wanted, the marriage may have lasted, as it turned out, I was very resentful.

He told her to go ahead and do what she wanted, that is all I would need.

when I got Teddy we already had Wicket (yorkie) and a Jack Russel (gracie which was a foster dog at the time) when I walk in with Teddy my husband fell in love with him at first sight he's the one that actually name him. I was a little anxious about it and thought maybe I didn't think this through enough but he said just look at that little face how can you think of returning him. my problem is that we are keeping 6 servicemen dogs while they are Iraq my son dog included thats makes 9 dogs and it hit home when Gracie owner didn't make it back and his family didn't want her so we ended up keeping her because she had been with us for 2yrs. I kept thinking what if this happens again am I crazy for wanting another yorkie. so whats 3 dogs (just kidding) I really think that once your husband see how cute it is and holds it he will melt because there is nothing like a yorkie .

Yes a decision they should make together, but saying that it is disrespectful to him as her husband is the part that gets me. We all have our own opinions and at the end of the day if she wants the dog and her husband wont budge then one of them is going to be unhappy.

But marriage is about Sacrifice, compromise, Give and Take etc etc.

You don't always get what you want, and it goes both ways.

It's not like I've never pouted and cried and felt things were unfair, but in the BIGGER PICTURE- People do get what they want eventually (normally)... because no one wants anyone to be unhappy! but you both have to be on the same page or Ya, I find it disrespectful to the man, or the woman not to want to WORK TOGETHER.

There are woman on here saying "I asked for an entire year" or two! some others have said it took over 20 years! but eventually they got what they wanted right? Maybe it's not the right time... Maybe it's a money issue, maybe wants to warm up to the lifestyle change etc... you don't know, and neither do I.

But for a lot of people here to say "Just show up with a puppy!" I don't think that's right.

I am saying if it were me and I hd it to do over, I would get the dog, cause the relationship with the dog would have been better than the relationship with the man. If I had stood up for myself the marriage might have lasted.

My hubby told me to wait until we relocated to get my yorkie... upon arrival I was already scouting out puppies! lol Now we have our baby Ares and my hubby is loving him almost as much as I do! *giggles* I would go for it! Noone can not love a yorkie! My big bad Marine crumbles when Ares sits and cocks his head to the side! Awwww lol He still has his big dog Tank (a boxer) ... so what if he won't carry Ares in a purse... he used to walk my pink poodle!
