| Well I just think if it was then you would of known that your parents wouldn't allow her at their house and you wouldn't even have to think about what to do in this situation. But in your other thread you stated your parents didn't know about her and didn't know you were getting a dog so that doesn't seem like you really thought about what to do in this situation. You've gotten some great advice and you have chosen not ignore some and possibly listen to some but I wouldn't even consider leaving a small yorkie puppy at home for the day and have her checked on, it will still be a new environment for her and stress can hit so fast. |

| i was afraid to tell my parents for the fear that they would say exactly what you are trying to say, that i didn't think it through and that i didn't know what i was getting myself into, but honestly, i'm well aware of everything that comes with having her, i'm aware that my life will be focused on her and that i won't have the flexibility to go whenever i want to, but i was ready for that, i'm home alone almost every night with hubbie working 2-10pm shifts, i wanted a puppy to love and train and teach and watch her grow up, it's boring and lonely being home by yourself, and i haven't made any friends in my new town yet, so yea, i've thought about this, and i know exactly what i'm doing... telling parents anything is hard for me, they are very opinionated and judgmental at times, but they are fine with Sadie, they just don't like inside pets, and i can't blame them, i wouldn't be able to have a large dog or cat in my house either, but toy breed dogs are so cute, and small, and if she pukes or pees or poops by accident on something she wasn't supposed to, i'm willing to clean it and her up and teach her the right place to go, i love my pup and i haven't even gotten her yet... |

| I think you made the right decision not going. Your pup is very young. I brought one home that age and he got stressed and did get diahrea and I took him to the vet right away and still he dehydrated and they had to give him fluids. It is a big responsibility when you bring home a new pup. It is a much bigger responsibility when you bring them home at the age Sadie will be

I'm not trying to judge you, I understand you totally. I wanted a small dog for all the same reasons, to take care of, to have as a companion, to teach, hold and love. I think that is what makes a good pet owner. We just want to have a healthy dog we can love and live a long good life with us. My dogs life was ended short, sure I bet there is some things I may of done different, and theres ALOTS of things the breeder could of done different. The pain, the heartache and money I have went through was huge. And maybe not responsible in some peoples eyes. My mom tells me I have bad luck with dogs and I shouldn't get any more for a while and that I need to be more careful who I trust when it comes to getting a dog. This is the second dog I have had horrible luck with, first was a small puppy that died at 10 weeks old, my hubby got me the pup and he was about 7 weeks old, a little shihtzu, he was tiny, left his mom too soon. My vet didn't even tell me he shouldn't be outside or any of this information I have seen on here about young puppies. He had one set of shots and I had him outside on the grass a couple times and he was perfectly fine and acted normal and then one morning I woke up after having him only 3 weeks and he was gone! My vet said he thinks it may of been a genetic problem but who knows, why didn't he tell me about the dangers of having a small puppy and all this advice I never got. We are trying to help you only. And just trying to help you make a good decision on where to get a puppy from. That is SO important. You haven't mentioned yet what you would do in the case of lots of medical bills, what would you do if you get your baby and heaven forbid she gets extremely sick and has to have testing, blood work and medication? Nobody wishes this upon you but this is a chance you are taking. I know you want a puppy so bad I would LOVE to have another one right now but I cant and I won't and I am just way to scared to get another dog right now. So many people are out there who seem so nice and loving but really they aren't and this guys has so many red flags. I know this is off topic now but I just want you to know that I am not trying to be rude to you I understand you and can feel you love for wanting to have a dog, I don't want to sound like a parent either lol but I can't help it because I am a parent lol But sometimes we don't see things the way they should be seen and we need some help to look through situations through other peoples eyes I don't want you to feel I am being mean to you please, I just want to help you and get the word out and hopefully save somebody lots of heartache because it is not fun to watch your dog suffer

Excuse me I don't think I am casting stones, I'm only trying to help somebody make the right decision so maybe they don't end up in my situation ever. Shame on you she is asking for opinions and thoughts on her situation I am simply sharing my pain and experiences and giving advice I can relate too!

| i'm sorry too if i've been rude back, i am scared and worried, who wouldn't be, even if i bought her from the fanciest place in the world and spent a crap ton of money on her, i'd still be worried and scared, it's my first puppy, that's a big step, and i know it MIGHT be a challenge with her health, but frankly so would ANY PUPPY. just because you get a dog from a breeder who charges you 1500 and has all these health guarantees doesn't mean your doggie can't get sick, there is NO guarantees in pets, dogs get sick, they die, it's awful and super sad, and i feel so bad for you that you've had the bad end of the stick with your own puppy experiences, but it hurts me that so many people will only talk about how bad their experience with a young puppy was, i know you are all trying to warn me from personal griefs, but just because it might have happened to some of you, doesn't mean it WILL FOR SURE happen to us. like i said raising a puppy has no health gurantee, you can say that the parents were healthy when the pup was bred and has no genetic problems from mom and dad, maybe even back to great grandparents, but that still doesn't guarantee that the puppy will always be healthy and not get some disease or sickness or even have a genetic thing pop up in the future. paying 1000 for a puppy doesn't make me feel any more secure that my puppy will be healthy and perfect...so personally i'd rather save money and get one from a person that I TRUST and do the best i can to raise her and give her everything in the world that i can. and about the vet bills, we are getting a pet insurance plan that covers all vet visits, shots, tests, ext. and even comes with free spaying under the plan. i think the only thing it doesn't cover is heartworm meds and flea stuff, but you can add to the plan for that as well, i'm sure it doesn't cover major problems or surgery, but it does cover a lot, so i think we're good in the vet bills dept. |

Perhaps it came off rude I for one ment it a certain way and didn't feel it was harsh but this is the internet and other people may take things a different way. I was saying I felt a decision she was making was irresponsible, just because somebody makes an irresponsible decision doesn't make them irresponsible. But then again I am sure you were implying I am not one to talk about being irresponsible!

That's great that you will get the insurance but I am pretty sure the way they work is you pay upfront and they reimburse you and it's not always 100%, make sure you look into it good and ask lots of questions. I know the place I was going to go with didn't cover 100%, it was quite high but still they said you need to pay then file a claim and it's not always accepted, thats why I worry about insurance companies!

| i sort of mis spoke, it's not really insurance, it's from banfield pet hospital usually in the PetSmart stores, it's a great plan, 99.95 on time fee, and then 21.95 or so a month for a year, covers initial puppy vet check, vaccinations, check ups, and the included spay. it's quite reasonable and it does show what exactly is covered and it shows how much you save this way. no insurance paperwork to fill out, very wonderful little offer they made.. |

I can also tell you...if your pet is extremely ill or suffers a traumatic injury...Banfield will send you to an emergency hospital. They don't have the means or facility to treat the animal.

| RUN, don't walk away from Banfield. If you have to move, or your dog dies (even if they kill it) you are still responsible for the plan. there are a TON of BBB looking into Banfield. I would never, under any circumstance EVER take a dog, particularly a toy breed, to them. My friend was a vet student and did some time in a Banfield facility, she said if all vets were like that she would leave the profession. They hire the least qualified, right out of school vets and abuse them for several years until they leave, their tech staff is worse than that. Again, please google Banfield +complaints and you will see that you are taking your pup's life in your hands every time you take her there.
