and about the vet bills, we are getting a pet insurance plan that covers all vet visits, shots, tests, ext. and even comes with free spaying under the plan. i think the only thing it doesn't cover is heartworm meds and flea stuff, but you can add to the plan for that as well, i'm sure it doesn't cover major problems or surgery, but it does cover a lot, so i think we're good in the vet bills dept.
I agree I wouldn't want to pay 1,500 for a puppy and even 1,00 sounds alot to me but if you do get a good breeder who takes pride in what they do and your puppy ends up sick they are very helpful to help you cover the vet costs and take the steps to help you. I know I've read lots of amazing stories. If there is a genetic problem that shows up they are usually willing to pay for the necessary vet costs or replace the puppy as some people may choose to do so. Usually good breeders will do lots of testing on the parents, grandparents to ensure they are healthy and sometimes it takes time to develop a line. Again all you can do is hope and pray all will be well. I would probably feel more comfortable buying from someone who has occasional litters then lots of different litters of different breeds of dogs.

That's great that you will get the insurance but I am pretty sure the way they work is you pay upfront and they reimburse you and it's not always 100%, make sure you look into it good and ask lots of questions. I know the place I was going to go with didn't cover 100%, it was quite high but still they said you need to pay then file a claim and it's not always accepted, thats why I worry about insurance companies!
