I am terribly sorry for your loss. Please see an attorney and file a suit against
them. It seems most of their stores around the country have problems. I have had my share with their grooming facilities in the past and do not go there any longer. I won't shop there either.
I can't imagine what your going threw but I do hope you follow through
and sue the pant's off them. They deserve it!

Not all PetSmarts or Petco's are like this. Although it is scary to hear stories like this there are a lot of good groomers at these places. I have a lot of friends that have won awards from grooming shows and they come from these places. Let you put it to you this way, there are people that where meant to be groomers and then there are people that where not meant to be groomers and I am guessing that the ones in the horrore story's are the ones that probably should not be groomers.
Just becareful when you go to these places. Ask how only they have been grooming or the grooming manager. If they have only been a groomer for a few months then I would not leave my dog with them. Go for the one that has had more years behind them.

Cry SOO sorry for your loss

This is soo horrible can't you sue them? I had a Lhasa Apso before who got part of his anus cit off by groomers at Petco. Now that I have my little Juiccekins I would never take her to a groomer, she is tooo small and I don't trust anyone will be as cautious with her little 1 lb 4 oz frame at 14 weeks

If I were you, I would sue. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I used to take my pup Ollie to the Petsmart grooming center, until I was in there for unrelated business and saw one of the groomers verbally abusing the dog on her table and manhandling it very roughly. Ollie had been to the groomers there twice and came back shaking violently both times. I thought it was just nerves from being new to the grooming thing, but now I'm not so sure.

All I know is after your story, it'll be a cold day in hell before they groom my dog again.

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew from the horror stories on here to not take Mia to be groomed. She is nervous when I give her a bath so I can't imagine what it would be like if i let someone else do it. I would listen to everyone on here that's give you advise and Sue this company. It's not about the money, it's about them getting the bad publicity from the suit. Plus its about someone else not having to go through what your going through. Prayers from Mia and I... Good luck and God Bless...

On January 6, 2009, I dropped off two of my dogs at Petsmart located in Daly City CA at around 12:30pm for a grooming service. At around 2:15pm I received a call from Petsmart informing me that my teacup yorkie (Bella) had just been bitten by a husky. I immediately rushed back to Petsmart but upon arrival, the grooming manager Jennifer informed me that Bella had been sent to Banfield hospital located in the store for medical attention. The scenery when I arrived to Banfield was unbearable. Bella had an oxygen mask on and was fighting for survival. Jennifer then rest Bella in my arms but all I can hear was the squirming cry from my poor dog. The doctors advise me to have Bella transfer immediately to an emergency vet hospital for further assistance. Apparently Banfield does not have the apprioate equipment to save Bella. Banfield offered to have an ambulance transport Bella to SFVS but it will take 2 hours before an ambulance can arrive. Bella cannot wait 2 hours! I took matters into my own hands and drove Bella to SFVS myself. On my way to SFVS, Bella was consistently gasping for air and saliva began to drool from her mouth like the symptom of a seizure. These last no more than 5 minutes before she stopped breathing. Bella was rushed into the ER when I arrived at SFVS. It took no more than 2 minutes before the doctor announced that he was unable to revive her.
Petsmart is a big company so how something like this can possibly happens under their supervision. I have asked repeatedly for a statement from Petsmart in regards to the events that have led to this tragedy. Instead of getting any cooperation, I was asked to come back tomorrow. Petsmart only inform me that everything is confidently among Petsmart and their cooperate office. They will not release any information. The district manager was very unprofessional for not even taking anything under his or his staff’s responsibility. He gave me a stupid example (if you where driving on a freeway and if a rock come towards you, you would not be able to react-saying if a dog jumps to bite another dog you can’t react fast enough) which is a ridiculous example! The dogs were supervised under their control which means they are fully responsible. I also over heard that the owner of the husky had already told them to keep the husky away from other dogs. If you were to search under DOG OWNERS SUING PETSMART!!
I pleading that you guys put this on the air because I want people to know about it and to be more cautious about how dogs are handled and that they should always pay special attention to one dog at a time. This has happened more than once and they should take this more seriously.

So Sorry Julie,So sorry. I will not ever take my little molie anywhere and leave her. I was thinking about having her fixed, but she is so small. I took my maggie I lost her 3 months ago. She was fine when I left her at this vet. We boarded her and the pomchi for 4 days. When I got back she had lost 5 lbs and was so sick she could not walk out of the door. The Vet hosp. knew she was special she would get pancreaitis if she ate the wrong food. And I know someone gave her the baby
s food. Cause that is just how she acted if she got into baby's food. But I couldn't prove it. When she went home she got it so bad. I know it is horable when you loose your friend. She was my companion. But now I have these pup! And I get no rest. house breaking and all. But it is a laugh a minute I am not kidding you. and when she cuddles up, at night on my waterbed. she is so sweet. I miss my other dog. But molie sure knows how to make me feel good.
hugs nancy

I feel the same as everyone else see a lawyer.
That is not even right...
And sue them for everything they have got, the lawyer will get his fees out of it also. Ask a good lawyer, and he will tell you if he thinks you can win. This is the only way they will understand how important it is for them to make sure they hire professional people that know what they are doing.

I am so sorry for your loss. The horror and sadness you must feel is something no one should have to endure. Whatever you decide to do I am sure that everyone here will be behind you. I will keep you and your little Bella in my prayers.

I am so sorry that this has happened to you. I would contact an attorney and document everything up to date.

Very sorry for your loss Julie, my heart goes out to you.
Sue everybody involved. Petsmart, the groomers (Bella's & the Husky's) if they were in their care when it happened & the Husky's owner.
R.I.P. Bella

I am so sorry for your tragic loss. A year ago I lost my 3lb yorkie to a vicious attack by a Husky at Pet Smart.

OMG!!! this makes me angry!!! I had an incident w/Petsmart last march. i wrote the BBB and contacted my local news. This is what happened- (this is what i wrote to the BBB)

I brought my 5lb yorkie to Petsmart for a simple bath on Saturday March 2, 2008. She was acting normal before I brought her in. Then when i picked her up and left, my friend notice a bump on the back near her spine. She said she was petting her and she notice that my yorkie had some discomfort there. She didnt wanted to be petted at all. "Tootsie" wasnt acting herself either. She was quiet and she just sat there. (like she was lethargic) I thought..ok..maybe she is tired. Later that night she was still acting the same. We got worried, brought her to the emergency vet. The dr. felt the bump, stuck a needle in the bump. He drew approx. .33 cc blood. His diagnosis was "blunt trama causing hemorrhaging." Then around 4:00 AM, we notice a HUGE bump on her chest. There were also some bruising there. By morning, the bump had gone down alittle bit. I called Petsmart right when it opened. Talked to one of the managers (Gina)and told her the story and I wanted to know what happened. She said she would talk to her boss (Mike) and he'll get it figured out and call me back. Well, never got a phone call back that day. So I called them Monday Morning speaking to the Mike. He was really short with me and kind of brushed me off..acting like it was no big deal. He said "well how much was the vet bill, we'll send it off, and we'll contact you. He didnt even asked to hear the story from me, and i have no idea what what Gina had said to him. Then I asked to speak to his boss (Troy). Troy said he asked the groomer, and she said nothing happened. He said he'll definately look into. Then i asked to speak to his boss because I didnt feel that this was going anywhere. its alittle strange when I dropped my dog off and she was fine, then when i picked her up she had bumps and bruising all over her body. I havent received answer yet on what happened. A lot of people that i have talked to said that when they brought thier pet(s) to Petsmart Grooming that they have unexplainable issues happening to their pet(s) too. I just want to find the real reason on what happened to my dog while she was there getting a bath. I have day to day pictures of her bruises and copies of all vet bills and reports. I havent gotten any response from Petsmart Headquarter Safety Specialist.

You def. write to the BBB and contact your local news. I have an email address and phone number to the Petsmart Safety if you want it. I can also email you pics of toots bruising...just give me your email address
