That's probably what you read. I think they feel that it sounds too painful to say it's in the muscle. lol On the instruction sheet that arrives with the chip, it says again that it should be deep subcutaneous or in the trapezium muscle (between the shoulder blades). I have found that if it is just under the skin, it will move, as some posters have described. But if it is a bit into the muscle, it stays put and still doesn't hurt excessively. (This is what our vet says also)

I find that there are a lot of breeders who do it themselves, which obviously I don't have a problem with. I do have a problem with just slapping it in and not checking it.

I did not say the part about my not knowing she was actually on the plane until 9 p.m and it was a 12 hour flight.. we had to leave home at 3 a.m so not much notice ah... I was shocked when I got the email saying go to bed.. she is enroute... I would not let a puppy go at that age, let alone shipping puppy on a 12 hour flight..

Donating YT 11K Club Member | I can feel Sophie's microchip near her shoulders/back. It moves a little like half an inch but it always stays there. She is avid chipped.

| 3 Yorkies here,, 2 microchipped,, one not,, mine are,, hubbys is not,, personal preferences,,but it was the concern of them taking off ,, being picked up,, then if they are at any vets office,, or shelter,, sheriffs office,, etc. they are supposed to be scanned,, Cricket was so tiny,, we waited a long time to get hers,, and had it done when she was out for her spay surgery,, you can feel hers under the skin,, but its not prominent,, the gauge of the smallest needle for it is 14,,which is pretty good size,, but I had Trixie "chipped" when i took her in for her last puppy shots,, as she was 3.7 pounds,, placement is the same,, but our vet won't do it if they are under 2 pounds,, says it hurts em too badly when they are that tiny,, Trixie's was done when she was fully awake,, and she hollered just a minute,, like any kid getting a shot,,then she was just fine, no bleeding,, no pain at the site,, she doesnt seem to know its there,, but i do,, for great peace of mind,, check the recovery rates on chipped dogs!!! our vets office has scanned and returned a few dogs themselves,, and are believers in microchipping count me on the DO IT side,
