| My lil Scrappy Doo is chipped. He came chipped when I bought him. I was really excited because he's MY boy and I want to do everything I can to make sure it stays that way. Diana |

| All of our furbabies are chipped. Let me share this with the members who don't want to chip their furbaby. A lady was at Petsmart with her yorkie. Someone walked over and took her She was heart broken, cried for weeks. One day she was at another store, saw a lady with a yorkie that looked just like hers. The Yorkie even started to cry when she saw her. She just knew it was her baby, it had to be, but the lady took off out of the store. She followed her, called the Police, both ladies said the dog was theirs. Both had lots of pictures, and information on the furbaby. The only thing that got her baby back was the chip. It proved she was in fact her baby. Most of us never leave our babies, some of us have to. I really believe the chip is extra protection for our babies.

I just do. It just isn't natural and to me doesn't seem like the right thing to do. Like I said I would have never done something like this to my daughter when she was little. As a child she LOVED to run and explore. I just had to watch her that much more closely. Diesel is a momma's boy and is always by my side. We don't have a fenced in yard and he NEVER runs. We live in the country and not in the city. I just don't see the need in it and I can't justify getting it done. I think it is a personal choice and it just isn't something I agree with.

Nothing was done when the lady grabbed the Yorkie? Did anyone scream and yell for help? I think situations like this probably aren't very common. Truth be told I very rarely take Diesel out to place like this. There are just too many dogs that aren't vaccinated and to be honest he is very wary of strangers. He is happy to ride in the car to take my daughter to school or to go see family and friends.

Yorkie Yakker | micro chip i had my little trip chiped 3 weeks ago he didnt utter a sound but i also was giving him his cherrios to distract him he was so good. he has got out of the the fence three times and it me it was well worth the 30 bucks for my piece of mind that i would at least have some sort of chance of getting him back i read a few weeks ago vanessa williams yor kie was stolen and he was chiped thats how she got him back so as you can see i feel like it was worth it.

| Mine are all micro chipped and it came in handy last summer when our kandie somehow got out when Jim opened the gate and was half asleep and did not notice.. she was picked up and taken to the vet around the corner from us.. they called my daughter as we had just moved and had not changed out address yet.. and like myfairlacy says, we do not really expect to lose our dogs, but things do and can happen and just the posts of stolen yorkies not even the ones that get away some how is enough to make me think it should be done, and I have stood there and watched this, and it hurts them less then having toe nails cut. they hate that more for the mostpart. Although I sympathize with people who lose there dogs or have them stolen.. I also wonder why they have not gotten them microchipped.. why wait to learn the hard way.. no one can steal your dog and keep it for long as eventually that dog has to go to a vet.. I know a women that lost her cat.. one year later the cat landed at the vet for what ever reason and the vet checked as client was new and said ya know I put this micro chip in this cat and it has been missing for a year.. just to let you know... and I am so sure that there are so many cases we never hear about... |

| I've been thinking about this story since I saw this thread and I finally went and found it. Charlie's story is definitely a good example of the microchip doing its job! It sure saved his life!

| to everyone who disagrees with microchipping, i respect your opinion -- however i don't completely agree. Sophie is my baby, she is two months old. While we purchased Sophie for a low price ($400), I have known yorkies to cost waaay more than that. That in itself is reason enough to cip your baby. Not including the fact that losing them would be completely devastating. No, not everyone would be honest and have the do scanned but you have to look at it this way, You have done your part as an honest owner -- they are the ones who will have to deal with God later on. You really have to realize, though, that we are living in the year 2008. Times are changing and technology will eventually take over. Technology, however, can be very helpful if you let it -- and i completely agree that there is no harm in chipping. There may be risks, but aren't there always? To every pro there is a con in my opinion so it's basically the owners call. Sophie goes in Friday for shots. I will be asking my vet his outlook on chipping for her near future. If i decide to look into it, I will arrange it when she is fixed heck, its a small price for a piece of mind. |

| I microchiped my little one. I take her everywhere, but in Canada they won't let dogs in food stores even Wal-mart & Zellers won't let dogs in. I carry her in her carry-on never touches the floor. There are so many bad people out in this crazy world that wld break-into cars to get her. And if my any chance the door opens & there they goes. For protection I would microchip or tatoo.
