This is what Avid's site says, "Dogs and cats are injected between the shoulder blades with a deep subcutaneous (under the skin) delivery of the chip. Complete instructions are included with all products."
That's probably what you read. I think they feel that it sounds too painful to say it's in the muscle. lol On the instruction sheet that arrives with the chip, it says again that it should be deep subcutaneous or in the trapezium muscle (between the shoulder blades). I have found that if it is just under the skin, it will move, as some posters have described. But if it is a bit into the muscle, it stays put and still doesn't hurt excessively. (This is what our vet says also)
