That's probably what you read. I think they feel that it sounds too painful to say it's in the muscle. lol On the instruction sheet that arrives with the chip, it says again that it should be deep subcutaneous or in the trapezium muscle (between the shoulder blades). I have found that if it is just under the skin, it will move, as some posters have described. But if it is a bit into the muscle, it stays put and still doesn't hurt excessively. My baby who I got at 8 weeks old, yes, i did not know she was on the plane until she was on the plane... then I had to drive 4 hours one way to the airport.. when we got her.. she weighed 1.5 pounds.. and he chip stuck out the back of her neck.. she did not have much fat around that area at the time.. it was not nice to feel and bothered me big time.. I have never been told by the vet it was not in the right place.. she has been to the vet for all her shots.. had surgery (teeth) and I cannot feel it as well as I did.. but I can see people being afraid.. but at the same time.. again.. if you lose them.. it is a dreadful situation anyone can control..
