| I honestly don't want to know... I doubt they'd be someone I'd ever consider buying a dog from anyway. If you think it's okay to breed mixes than that's your opinion but I won't ever condone it. Too many dogs being bred for the wrong reasons..too many dieing every year because there aren't enough homes...

| I agree to many are ending up in shelters and not just not wanted for the owners get tired of them ,but I do not think some breeders are bad because they have mixes. Most do not care they just put any female with any male and get a litter of mixes. But some put alot of time and effort and use good studs and bitches to get mixes. There is a difference I think. | I'm going to say that people want these mixes. I have a poodle and a yorkie and I would LOVE a mix of the both of them. They are both wonderful dogs! I don't think there is anything wrong with a mix if that's what someone wants. It's personal opinion. Some people don't like mixes and that's fine. People should get whatever kind of dog they want or like. I have a friend who has a cockapoo...she did not want a poodle but she liked cocker spaniels but didn't want a dog that shed...her cockapoo was a perfect mix of the two.

but, they want morkies, or they want another yorkie mix..everyone knows what they want..a lot of peopel want morkies, they dont' want purebred yorkie or purebred maltese..everyone that has bought my sisters dogs love them to death, they are very smart, tend to housebreak pretty easily, etc etc..to each his own..but, you have to realize, there are yorkies getting put down every year too, not just mixed dogs..maybe all breeders should just stop breeding so that all of us will stop spending so much on yorkies and other purebreds and buy only from shelters...??

If someone wants a mix, why not adopt one? I don't think breeding just because people will buy is the right reason for breeding...that's doing it for money. Not a good reason to breed.

) People buy them because they are supposed to be shed-free, but that's not always the case. When you take a shedding dog and breed it with a non-shedding dog, you are going to get a 50/50 chance for shedding. You could get a dog that sheds like a lab, doesn't shed like a poodle, or sheds somewhat but less than a lab would. I know of many lab/poodle mixes turned over to rescue groups because families bought them thinking they would by "hypoallergenic" and the dog ended up shedding when it grew up.

| I don't really "get" designer mixes but aren't all purebred dogs (including Yorkies) derived from the breedings of multiple breeds of dogs?

| I know people can get a dog from a shelter but some people prefer to know exactly what kind of dog they are getting. Dogs at a shelter might look like something but really have a completely other breed mixed in them that could result in a bad trait. I think it is up to each person what kind of dog they want/like.

That and the "BACKYARD" Breeders statements. I have bought from VERY caring people who have WONDERFUL puppies. I don't know how close they are to the "Yorkie SHOW Standard" BUT they are Beautiful, healthy, gentle puppies who have been loved and raised in their home. Everyone who breeds is not a "backyard breeder" Not everyone has to breed show quality dogs.Beautiful Healthy dogs with great temperament are what most people hope for...... I have also bred my 3 AKC Non "show dogs" And LOVED these puppies ...So much so that after having them in my home for 12 weeks I find it very very hard to sell them. I've researched and read all I could get my hands on before ever thinking about breeding them. I've had to handfeed babies, these I got so attached to I couldn't sell...lol I've had one baby get stuck in the birth canal. I lost that one. Thank God mama was OK. But I consider myself and some others to be very caring educated breeders. And if they are not educated THATS why some read and post here as I have and other forums. They really don't need to have someone put them down for it ...... The breeders who offer insight and tools to learn are A+ in my book. And theres many on here, because I learn something new almost everyday! That being said I also have 2 Morkies and they are loved every bit as much as my Yorkies. Debbi
