In conclusion, I love you guys because everytime I get on here its like having Sunday dinner at my moms but not QUITE as loud!

I had mine tied when I was 21 of course I had two children. 1st, my heart goes out to anyone in a re-homing situation. PERIOD.

2nd, I don't believe in re-homing an animal any more than I believe in re-homing a human. That's ME. And, I am of sound body and mind and age (for you age-ists) to make this statement with 100% of my conviction. That's what I believe. PERIOD.

3rd, I respect one's choice - but when a person posts in a public forum about re-homing (or anything else for that matter), I think they should be prepared for responses that don't necessarily agree with them. And you know what? That's okay - as long as it's done respectfully. And if someone chooses to try to "educate" a re-homer about the down side of re-homing, that's their prerogative. But, geez, be compassionate about it if you're taking the liberty of said prerogative.

I'm 100% against rehoming. which is why I keep my mouth shut on the rehoming threads, my mom taught me if I didn't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all.

I was young and foolish when I adopted Laney, BUT the day I adopted her I made the commitment to HER that I was going to care for her for her wholelife, not just until things got hard. And trust me, they have gotten hard more than once. At one point I had to find a new apt in under a weeks notice. The only apt I was able to find that allowed dogs was more than I could really afford, so I survived that summer on ramen, easy mac, and water so I could keep her (and she was eating premium food). When she got parvo - that was another few months I had to survive on very, very little in order to be able to keep her.

I want kids, and if they end up with allergies, then I'll just let them live with grandma (only joking of course). But in all seriousness if they do, I will have the house set up in a way that baby and dogs have very little to no contact, it will be cleaned as often as needed to keep dog dander down, even if I have to build a second house for my dogs then thats what I'll do.

Lacy and my cats usually eat much better than me too. They get their expensive raw and canned foods and I'll eat a 30cent beef and been burrito! LOL But..I do have good meals sometimes too

I can so relate to that! I'll not go to the dr even sometimes myself if the dogs need a checkup or shot, or something like that and I'm short on funds. They always come first!

I think this was a great thread. We all had good points to make in the discussion and I also think we learned alot about each other.

It may not have turned out the way the OP wanted but I myself would like to see other opinions than my own. We are all living life in many different ways and it shows when we respond.

i know if trinity had allergies to our dogs, i would try different treatments. rehoming my animals would be a VERY last resort...and i would hope to never be in a situation like that.

the way i look at it with kids/pets...and i may get a hammering for saying this. but it's not that we love the kids more than the pets...or the pets more than the kids...but when we are faced with a situation where the kids simply CANNOT be with the pets...there are only so many options... and re-homing the pet is one of those options. bottom line.

and if re-homing a pet because the lifestyle that you are currently offering the pet is not good (for whatever reason...health, money, time, whatever...) you have to do what is right and fair by the pet. there are WONDERFUL people out there looking for a pet to love. a lot of people would prefer to adopt a pet that is a little older...vs. a small puppy. and if you rehoming the pet is in the very best interest of the pet...and they are going into a home like that where their quality of life is increased tremendously, I do not see why anyone should be made to feel bad about that.

The medications they have out now they didn't have over 20 years ago when we needed them. Heck now you can walk into Kaiser and ask for a machine, and they give them to you. I had to buy ours, and I needed 3 (home,school & van). It was the only way to keep our son out of the hospital. But that is the difference between back then and now. The way I look at my re-homing is we saved our sons life, and at the same time made a very loving older lady who's husband just passed away very happy. I don't feel bad about re-homing her she had a wonderful life and our son grew up to be a fine young man.

I don't think anyone should go out of their way to upset people, if they do, they are missing out on what life is really about.

Life is short, be happy, healthy & wise. That's what Mom always said.

IMO...there are far worse things to get all worked up and angry about than someones decision to rehome their dog to a home they feel is better than the one they are giving them i mean....forget the war in Iraq....someone's re-homing their dog!!!!!!!!!!! i just think it is nonsense to make such a stink about people making a decision that they feel is best. to each his own, i say

I too hate seeing threads on rehoming....I always feel so sad for the pet,
Would I or Have I rehomed? yes 300 times, They was not my babies but rescuses dogs and cats that noone wanted any more and just dropped off.so my husband and I took them in and cared for them until they found homes.
Would I ever rehome my dogs? No never If I am alive I will never rehome my babies. even after Im gone they will stay with my husband, if hes gone then yes they would have to be rehomed. if I become homeless. My family know how much my babies mean to me, they know if they took me in they would also be taking my babies in. So I would have to say I would never rehome my babies as long as Im alive.

I do post on the rehoming threads and its usualy to say that I hope that baby finds a forever loving home.I try to watch what I say because I am not in their shoes. being rude to them does not help matters.but I think rehoming is so very hard on the dog.

Rehome be it a pet or retired show/breeding dogs, Theres no difference to me. its all rehoming. To me maybe even worse, The dog was used for what the owner wanted and then rehomed, that to me is so wrong ...It gave so much to its owner I feel that that should be gave back for the rest of their life.
As for rude and mean pm's I too have got many of those, some not even about dogs or Yorkies. I feel that if someone has something mean to say, say it on the forum, why hide behind pm's?

To catch more flies with honey than vinegar is my fav. phrase....I think another applies here.."To walk a mile in someone elses shoes"...we don't ever know someones situation as to why they have to rehome their Yorkies,other pets or children for that matter....my gosh we are only humans and folks thats not an exaulted position for any of us!!! I think it be best for rehoming a pet than be left in a situation that wasn't in his/her best interest.... I feel for your friend that is receiving the ugly e-mails over a decision that I would bet is heartbreaking for her....Why do ppl who make rude and ugly comments and ad their almight opinions that don't help or support anyone, feel like they are the nominated to change the world??? It only makes others want to keep away from them....then they are lonely and lash out even more. I really am sorry for your freind please tell her to decide if these are the kind of ppl she respects and admires and if its "no", then just TRY and find the support SHE needs.....
