| Thanks mardelin, i can definately understand why you don't have lots of litters, these little babies are way to easy to fall in love with. My Fair lacy.... WOW you would honestly give the child away first I think you best take EVERY precaution thats possible to take being so young i think its very wise to not do anything permanent to stop kiddy production... just in case and i'm glad that you said that other people or friends would 'go' before your furbaby, thats how i feel and ive always been a little bit uncomfortable with it feeling that maybe that makes me a bad person to put 'a dog' before a person, but he's not just a dog he's part of our family and has as much right to stay part of it as the rest of us.

| i too dont think anyone should make bad comments to this person!! She just wanted support! and she got bashed!! if you dont like that shes rehoming i know there is freedom of speech but just keep it to yourself. This person doesnt need to hear all kinds of negativity when she doesnt want to rehome the puppy but for her own reasons has to. I can say we all know this OPs friend pretty well to just give her support and that we should give her the benefit of the doubt that she has to have good reasons to rehoming her pup!

I read the first page of this thread and then skipped to the last wondering why it was so long. The thread seemed to take a 90 degree turn! As for breeders choosing where their pups go, more power to them! They actually care about the animal more than the dollar. I have very young children but it has been top priority for me from day one to teach my children how to treat animals. But you do have to be very careful with dogs this size and pay extra attention when both kids and dog are playing together. Accidents can happen to quickly. And as far as rehoming a pet goes, isn't that the better option over sending them to the shelter? If you can't keep an animal you just can't. I've never understood why people bother themselves with others business. If it doesn't personally affect you (aside from a terrible situation like child or animal abuse), who cares what someone else does?!

I mean, that's why even w/the medications I need to take I **will** do it because my dogs bring so much happiness to my life. I really think in some cases rehoming is the least selfish thing that can be done. I know if I ever had to rehome a pet, the interview process to find a new home would be so thorough and likely take months or more and I would be the one heartbroken in the end. | |

I have read other threads where they say that certain things should be done in a PM, but now you all are saying otherwise ... I am baffled. I think when you post on a public forum, you can expect to get tons of different opinions ... I am not advocating offensiveness or being ignoble, just being open to other's opinions.

This is OT but..... I have a sister who does not/did not want children...She knew from early on that that was how she felt...She never changed her mind.......She looked and looked to find a doctor that would give her a hysterectomy....Insurance was okay with the surgery but could not find a doctor....And I promise you...She tried everywhere to find one too.....They also would not tie her tubes either...Saying she was young and would change her mind later.....Never happened....She just turned 37 and they finally did her hysterectomy.... So I honestly believe there are some that know they will not have kids....And there is truly nothing wrong with that....She has her pets.....They are her babies.....My sis is great with all her nieces and nephews....She loves them but does not want any of her own....Does not make her a bad person.... lol...This is just some of my useless knowledge as my hubby says Joyce

| When I was in 8th grade we had to rehome a boxer and it was one of the hardest moments in my life. I never thought we would've had to do it, and now I can't imagine rehoming Rocky or Bella. They ARE my children, and when/if I do have babies I pray to God that they aren't allergic. I just can't believe how some people would be so quick to judge. Obviously they haven't been in a situation where they have to rehome a pet and are very lucky, but that doesn't give ANYONE any right to send nasty e-mails. I agree with most of you, if your going to say something, say it on the board for everyone to see, don't be a coward, or better yet they should just keep their mouths shut and go start saying prayers that they don't have to ever rehome a pet.
