| I think I've agreed with you once or twice before...I guess it is bound to happen occasionally

| Absolutely. If you happen to seek out an Allergist....and go through the endless series of Allergy tests.....what they do is begin administering/injecting shots of what you are allergic, which eventually builds up the immunities against those allergins.

| I'm allergic to cats, dust, a million types of food, plants, etc. but I have 6 dogs and 3 cats in the house with me... That's why I said it can be done...I know because I do it. I had asthma as a child and the same thing happened to me as a previous poster. My mom tried to give away my pets and I got worse. Eventually I grew out of the asthma. If I take my allergy medicine I'm fine. Now if I sit and brush the cats for an hour and rub them all over my face, I'm goign to start sneezing and breaking out, but I wouldn't do that. Lily, my cat, sleeps in my bed under the covers with me. I have never had an issue with the yorkies. I keep them washed and brushed regularly so they don't shed. And the dust...I can't vacumn, I have to sleep on a special pillow, etc. Do I do all that? No. Come on now, I HAVE to vacumn. I just end up sneezing for about 20 minutes when I finish lol. No harm done. |

| I think allergies and allergic asthma are different. I know it's a long long process for allergy shots and treatment. I am going in for my first round of extensive testing after my blood allergy test I had done.. on Monday. They said it can take up to a month to find out the exact levels of reaction. So basically I have to go in two times a week to be injected w/many allergens and then see if I wheeze/cough/break out in hives/ect ect. I'm actually kind of scared about all the testing, but I'm an adult and I made the choice to add my furbabies to my family knowing that it would be a challenge. So I am praying for a wonderful outcome and that the allergy shots basically stop me from having such severe allergic asthma to my furbabies. I can completely understand though why someone with a young allergic child would not want to put them through this. It's years of testing and bi weekly shots and relief takes time to build (my dr told me not to expect relief for at least 6 months if not more). |

All I'm gonna say is I'm sorry for your friend to be in such extreme situation that she's being forced to re-home her pet And, as if it was not enough, she is getting nasty e-mails just to make her even more sad and hurt... Fortunatly she has a great friend like you... |

| For everyone saying that they, or someone they know has an animal and they are allergic, but built up a tolerance, keep in mind that everyone's allergies are different. Some people might have a more sever allergic reaction to one thing, and someone else might be allergic and just sneeze a couple of times from it. Just because one person is able to find a way to help their allergies doesn't mean that's possible for everyone.
