We all have bad days, but it's just like with kids you can't take it out on your puppy. My niece is 11 and she would kill me if she knew I was saying this but she at times still pees the bed!!!! We don't spank her or rub her nose in it we clean the bed and the sheets and move on. Please don't make him scared of you. Listen if the worst thing in your life is a 5 month old puppy that pees on the carpet then you are doing okay. Maybe that's his way of saying hi to you Our babies need us to be nice and give them lovies. He will learn where to go potty soon enough.

| Just a thought and I apologize if it's already been said (I read lots of the posts but there are tons), you need to think like a dog. "Mom gets mad when I pee so I better go pee away from her". The dog doesn't realize you are mad about the location. He had just learned that peeing makes you mad so why would he want to pee on a pad right in front of you? Much safer to run back to the living room and pee really fast before you see him. Another thing about the rubbing his nose in it thing, dogs don't think pee is gross. They actually think its pretty cool so rubbing his nose in it isn't any kind of punishment to him anyway.

Not to pee on your party but be prepared for setbacks. There are times it seems they are completely housebroken then they regress so don't get upset if that happens. It's just part of the Yorkie package.

| Ooopss The belly band site I posted had an error in the address. Here it is again. http://www.pekeatzurescue.com/bellybands.htm Myriamha, congrats on your progress!! I am so happy for you and Royce! Remember, though, there will probably be accidents again from time to time, so you still may want to think about belly bands if you are planning on letting him run around the house. HUGS to you! And again, HOORAY ROYCE!

| you know I feel for ya. I have lost temper before and really let loose, exspecially last week when Harley peepeed on my foot 3 times in 2DAYS. I wanted to spank then saw those little eyeballs and melted my heart, my kids say mom you would kill us if we did something like that. But over the years I have come to realize that carpet can be replaced or cleaned and Harley cant. I understand the frustation. And if truth were told everyone has lost there temper at one time or the other. Dont worry, he will get it one of these days, I truely think that the yorkie is the hardest one to potty train. and I also did the potty pads, I think you need to get rid of them now, and just use the crate and the outside. If he gets cold he will just hurry up. That is what my Harley does. The crate sounds mean but it really is best for them. The pads send a mixed message about the house. Mine now goes pee outside and poop in side , he doesnt like you to look at him when he goes , I guess he is modest mirt...... Hang in there, no one is perfect, dogs all have different personalities just like us, some of us dont mind if furbabies eat the drywall and rugs, some of us do. Just remember your baby reacts more to your emotions then words, because packs of dogs dont use english they feel and see and know. Be the pack leader and be confident in your dog, he will feel it. good luck to ya |
