| I read in your posts that you think it is too cold to take him outside. It is not too cold to take him outside. I live in Saskatchewan and I have been taking my puppy outside. I got him when he was 11 wks old and some nights it was -27 out there but we went out. You have to go out with him and praise him lots when he goes potty outside. I have used the crate method. Now he is 4 1/2 months old and he just loves to go for a walk. I think it was -18 yesterday and he still wanted to go. I didn't but he did. You need to pick a method and start afresh. Please do not punish him as he does not understand. Praise! Praise! Praise! when he does it where you want him to go and overlook the mistakes along the way. |

| Myriamha came here for help. Not to be called names. LeslieA please offer some constructive advice. Myriamha obviously doesn't know how to deal with the situation so hopefully she can learn from advice given on the board. |

Maybe she should have come here for advice BEFORE she smacked her puppy around.

I really hope the original poster of this thread sees how upsetting this is to everyone and takes the advise she is getting....whether it is trying harder to be patient and keep training....or find him a good home before he gets hurt. There ALWAYS an alternative to hitting and yelling at a puppy....to do it out of frustration is no excuse for this.

| The 1st week I had Logan I lost it. but I didn't hit him. I placed him with my husband and told him to take him away while I sat on the porch and cried and kicked my feet. Bad day or not there is no reason to repeatedly spank a puppy.

| Potty Training I know this is horribly frustrating, but I've found that if you relax a little . . . step back . . . buy some real good enzyme spray . . . and not take it personal (or not tie so much emotions into it) you get much better results. Rhapsody is doing very well in the training area at 13 wks, but I think this is because I'm so much more relaxed with her than I was about the my other doggies. Now don't get me wrong; she sleeps in a crate and I take her outside every couple hours, and also I'm firm and disapproving when she has an accident, but I've noticed a huge difference since I haven't tied any anger or personal failure feelings into it. Same advice has worked wonders for my kids also, lol, except I don't need the enzyme spray or crate. The more I step back and let them be rather than control them the better things workout and the happier we are all around. Jess
