| Jodi, If she is not online with YT, she might still get emails. She has a "contact us" button on her website. Karla, please PM Jodi...she has someone who might help Mindy and they are not far from you!

| I am so sorry to hear you are having a problem with your little girl. I had a similiar problem about 2 months ago with my rescue Rosie, I was at home one evening .I went out for about an hour , when I returned I found Rosie (9lbs.) attacking Julie (5lbs) when I came in the door. After cleaning her (Julies0 bite on her leg and starting her on antibiotics. About a week later I had an appointment when I left I put Rosie in a crate while gone. When I returned I found Poor Julie sitting in a puddle of blood with both legs and front legs bitten. over 95 bite wounds,I picked her up and ran to the car and to the vets.( Rosie had gotten out of her crate.) After a hour of surgery I had to figure out what to do with Rosie. I called the rescue where I got Rosie from. they took her and kept her while I tended to Julies care. 3 weeks later and 24 hr care turning ,feeding ect. and two trips daily to the vets for flushing and pain meds sub q fluids I had to figure what to do with Rosie. I contacted a behaviorist in Pa . She said try a few things but management is the only way. I saw her vet which also is a behaviorist and she has started her on prozac. They both recommened basket muzzle on Rosie. When around Julie. I had the hardest time because the rescue had a lot of apps on Rosie but between me missing her and the people finding out she had attacted my newest yorkie they were not sure they wanted to try taking Rosie, My heart was broke I called daily to check on Rosie they said she was fine but I knew she was not. After 13 days I went and picked her back up. She lost 2 lbs. I do not allow her near Julie if I am not right there. She does not bother her now but I will not take the chance at all.Rosie is doing better with prozac but it is not quite there because any loud noise, and dog barking, knocking on the door ect. She gets herself pacing and barking looking around to see where Julie is. I know to pick her up and hold her to get her mind in a different place. It was the hardest thing to do but I was not going to put her down like a lot of people said to do.Management is the only way to do it if you can not find someone else to take her. When this happened two different vets said they can not believe it had not happened before because of me having 5 females in the house.I would never of thought it would happen because they get along so good. But Julie was the new girl on the block and Rosie was very badly mistreated before I got her. They think she was jealous and they also said with that many bites all 6 dogs more then likely were involved as well. So I know hard it is but with crating her or putting in different rooms that is the only thing that will work.Good luck.I hope it works out for you . If I can help you in any way please let me know. |

| I am NOT going to have her put to sleep..The first vet she saw recommended that. MY regular vet suggested drugs and that is who I am seeing on Thursday. But I still cannot keep her even if on drugs because it can take weeks for them to work, IF they work at all and I have been threatened by one of my sons friends parents to turn Mindy in to animal control. they WILL tag her as vicious because that is the law here once a dog has bitten. They take her and put her in isolation (quarantine) and most likely put down. They want us to pay their sons medical bill because she broke skin and they went to ER.. Our property insurance will pay for it but then our insurance goes up for having a "vicious" dog.. She bit this kid (he is 18) almost a month ago and drew no blood, the she bit him again 2 days ago and contacted us today demanding money.. For those who do not know about Mindy please read about her here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...y-age-2-a.html Thanks |

We do not have that kind of money. So we will have to have the HO insurance cover it and we will be charged a lot more for insurance. Some companies will not even insure you if you have a dog that's bitten. We have re-homed Mindy twice and both times she was brought back..

She was re-homed twice. The second time I placed her with a single woman, no other animals, no kids (she is 52) and divorced. But when she took her out to go potty she attacked a man and then attacked another man who came to her apartment. She broke skin on him. Yes she is spayed. I do not believe she wants to be "alpha" I think she has some serious issues, her brain just doesn't seem like it is wired right. I have talked to the guy who asked us to take her and he says she NEVER liked men, but in no way was she ever abused. She was fine with him, and she is fine with my husband. Except the other day when I was sleeping and he came in to tell her to stop barking and she lunged at him, wouldn't let him near me...That was the first time she had ever done that. I wish I could get all this on video but in the heat of the moment I am to busy trying to deal with her..

| Yes..I agree, always have.. But this isn't the only issue, she bites men on their legs. And she goes into a barking rage and the more you try to hold her back the more she pulls. I keep her on a leash tethered to me most of the time. |

Saturday was the first time she tried to hurt the pups. We thought she just wanted to play with them before that because she would sit and whine. When we have pups they are always confined to the kitchen or an x-pen. This is the first time we have had pups since last year, way before she came to stay (in Dec). She only goes after the pups when I am right there taking care of them like she did yesterday. And that was the first time she actually got a hold of one. She stopped as soon as I told her too and then when I walked away from the pups she did as well.. it's as if ANYTHING that takes my attention from her is fair game to her. If I have a dog in my arms, she will jump up and bite them sometimes. She used to do that more. When I let everyone out potty in the morning she goes after Rose every single time. SO I started carrying her as I let the other ones out and she just goes ape sh*t. It literally takes both my arms and hands to hold her, she is really strong for an 11 pound dog.

Putting a dog to sleep would only ever be a last resort and if I was forced to. I should have made it clear what the vets said in my first post..I apologize for that but I didn't finish the post before I submitted it and thought I had..
