No Longer a Member | I'm sure that your home will be a much more comfortable environment than a byb's cage, but are you really sure you can do this? If you are really doing this you should probably be prepared to take her straight to the vets office when she goes into labor. I can't help but worry for the momma, in either situation it is sad that she is going through this...either with a shady breeder, or someone with no experience whelping a litter. A single hesitation on your part could mean the life of mom or the pups or both, especially with an unknown father. If you really think you are prepared for this I would say find a reputable breeder, or even the byb that this bitch belongs to and make sure they are there for you for the birthing process. You probably won't have time to read/write posts on YT when things get started. I'm not a breeder and thats incentive enough to keep me out of the whelping process. I wouldn't be able to handle that kind of stress. Knowing the little girl is relying on you to make it through alive and healthy Why can't this BYB just keep mom where she is and just take the knowledge that 6 weeks is too early to leave mom and put it into process? Then start spay/neutering her dogs and let them live life as pets? If she is willing to let a pregnant bitch leave her care 2 weeks before labor, she needs to get out of the practice of breeding. |

| What would you do if mom has retained pups and begins to scream and hemorrhage bright red blood in massive quantities, even if the breeder is there? No amount of reading and internet postings will help then. If mommie dog is at the vet, they can immediately open her up and have a chance of saving her and some pups, should this happen. If you are going to involve yourself in this, might as well give mom and puppies their best chances at the vet and instead of spending money on lots of supplies, pay it to the vet. I haven't read all of the threads so I do not know what protections you have afforded yourself in this process. What if things go wrong and the BYB blames you and wants money for the dogs' losses? What if things go right and BYB takes the mother and all pups and leaves or calls the police if you try to keep the female or pups? What do you have in writing permitting you to undertake all of this? I sure hope that this poor little girl and her poor little puppies are okay and they all make it safely through this terrible situation. I know you have a good heart and will do the very best thing for this poor little pregnant girl who herself is in this mess through no fault of her own. I hope you also take care to protect yourself from possible litigation, too. Best of wishes and you and these Yorkies will be in my prayers.

| And I completely agree that she should NOT be breeding either, but she is! She has 2 males that will be 6 weeks on Monday. Through all of my talking about how important it is to keep them until they are 12 weeks, she is still going to let them go. The father of this female is hers as well. I know this is risky. I know that I'm getting involved in a huge mess. I have whelped pups before. Not yorkies, but pugs who also have a tendency to have trouble in labor. I always helped her (3 litters) by removing the sacs, tying and cutting the cords, suctioning the pups, etc. No, I am NO expert, but I still feel like I am capable. She does not even have a steady vet, just goes wherever it is convienant at the time. She needs to grow AlOT! I have spoken to another lady in my area who used to breed small dogs. She has agreed to come for the whelping.I know many of you are frowning a this, and I were reading this I would to. I am again confused as to what is the right thing to do is. Just a note: I do love to give Mac updates. He is doing extremely well. He and his mother have been here since he was a few days old. He is running and playing and consistently using potty pads. I am so proud of him and love him dearly. I am considering taking his momma myself to be spayed if her owner will accept my offer. She is a carrier of blues, and even though her owner said she would spay her, I just want to make sure it will be done.

No Longer a Member | You need and must get a vet to take her to for everything not just here and there but for the whats ifs, also have the address and phone number of an ER vet incase its 1am and the vet you have choose is not around. I dont think anyone on here doughts your trying to do whats right for this little girl but is it really whats best for her? Most of our worries came from your 1st post asking us to be on stand by as youd be posting like a mad woman when the time came, Well I can tell you from experience you wont have time to even walk away from the mother during the birth and you really should not relie on YT memembesr for vet info, As we can give info, support & opions but we cant safe lives over the internet. Please I beg and urge you to get a steady vet. Its also great that you have someone comming to help with the whelp whos breed before, Also think hard about the legal matter you could be getting your self into, Protect this little girl as much as you can but dont forget to protect your self as well during this confusing time . |

| Seriously , If each of us her on YT could do this ONE time can you imagine how many pups would be saved & what a Diff WE could all make. Not just for the breeding dogs but the potential owners of genetically defective pups & the sickly pups that would have been born to these poor parent dogs . I have found that a little Kindness goes Much further then slinging Poo. |
