| Traveling with your furbaby? so next wednesday my boyfriend and i are going to fly to california to visit my family and we're going to be bringing riley with us! he'll be in cabin with us and i need tips and suggestions on how to make the flight comfortable for him! i've never flew with a puppy before! we'll be on a plane from FL to atlanta and then from atlanta to california. the lady i talked to from delta said it'll be okay to bring enough food and treats for him so i can still feed him while we're on the plane if i need to. he's trained to go potty on a mat so i'm wondering if it'll be an issue if i have to put the pad in his carrier just in case. how do i get him acustomed to being in a carrier? he's been on a 5 hour car trip before and didnt go to the bathroom until after we got out of the car plus he slept the whole way almost. i just dont want the flight to be stressful on him!

| I have traveled with my babies many times and they did beautifully. I also fly to San Diego, CA. I fly into Houston and then to Ca. Make sure you have a good carrier and that your baby has plenty of room to stand, sit and lay down. My babies are pee pad trained, so I would take them into the Lady's room and put the pee pad on the floor and I would put a leash on my baby and put her down. When the plane landed, I would unzip the top of her carrier and let her poke her head out so she could see everything and that helped her anxiety. The supplies I packed were, water, small amt. of food., treats, her doggie blanket, pee pads, small plastic bag, wet wipes, benadryl, nutra-cal, and a few of her favorite doggie treats. Also, if you are able, book you an isle seat since it is really so much easier to get in and out of and it makes it so much easier on your baby, since you have to put the carrier under the seat. Good luck and enjoy your trip.

| maybe this is a stupid question, but can you fly with them on the actual plane with passengers? i've always seen animals have to go underneath or whatever. |

| Small dogs they will let you take on with you. But you have to put them under your seat like if you had a small carry on. I have car traveled long distance with mine. But I can tell you they will vomit every time if I leave them in the carrier. If they are out with me they never get sick. This Thanksgiving we went home and I wasn't feeling well I have back pain. So I didn't get them out and they all got sick on me all the way. Then we ended up having to come home early as we stayed over night in one of our other homes and they were so stressed they didn't want to eat much. And Zoie is on an antibiotic for a urninary issue. So we ended up bring them home as she didn't want to eat and was stressed and we didn't want her stressed out any longer. I hope you make it okay on your trip. Sometimes they do go and other times they don't. I think its important you take them out alot when you are home so they get use to the car. They love riding in the car but not when I put them in the carrier.

| I would say that your little guy probably wont potty on the plane. I've only had mine on car trips but I have been on a plane next to someone with a dog and she just laid in her carrier the whole flight. if you want him used to the carrier you can try putting him in it for short times leading up to the flight, that way you will know how he will react to being in it.

| I travel with Keoki all the time and we have taken a few plane flights. I ususally take up his water an hour before we leave and he sleeps the whole plane ride. I hold him before we enter the plane ( in the airport ) or go to a quiet place and let him walk a bit. He loves his Sherpa so he feels safe and just sleeps. I bring food and necessities but he does not eat while we are flying. Also remember if you are calm your baby will be calm- it's all in the energy. I think you are lucky you will be stopping in Atlanta because you will be able to take your baby out for a bit. Good luck!!! I know it will be easy |

| i'm going on the trip my mo doggy too, he is very noisy and a barker:-) if he doesn't bark, he will start crying, like a baby. i don't think that he would sleep through the flight, so my trainer recommended rescue remedy. Its natural and safe stuff. iHerb.com - Product Details - Bach Original Flower Essences, Rescue Remedy Spray, 20 ml (0.7 fl oz) you have to spray it 45 minutes prior and your doggy will sleep through the flight. I'm very nervous myself:-( Good luck to you too:-) |

| thanks everyone for your advice! the trip went very very very well riley did super duper good! i on the way to atlanta he was kind of fussy because he didn't know what was going on but then he went to sleep! then from atlanta to california he slept half the time and then woke up and i took him to go potty on his pad in the little tiny airplane bathroom and he ended up going hahaha on the way back i ended up just taking him out of his carrier and putting him in my lap under a blanket because i figured out that he was fussy because we couldnt give him any attention under the seat haha. no one said anything and the other people on the plane said he did very good. the stewardess even gave us water for him when they served drinks. the only thing i had to do was take him into the family restroom instead of the ones where everyone goes into because he got distracted and couldnt concentrate. he had so much fun in cali and made a lot of new puppy friends too

| Just so you know..if you take the dog out of the carrier on the plane and someone complains, they could fine you $40,000! Tulsa has flown 20 times and he sleeps the whole time. It could be the hum of the engines, but he does really good. I have a half hour communte to work every day and he comes with me every day. He is most comfy and happy when I put him in his carrier. Its really much safer than having him just laying on the seat. Im glad your trip went well. |

As Connie said, it can be crazy expensive if you get caught on a plane with them out....the FAA has control at that point. They won't land the plane early because of it but you can be sure if you get turned in and it is reported, airport police could be waiting for you when you exit the plane. Good luck and sorry for rambling. My advice, don't test your limits with pet travel, you don't want to pay for it.

| I travel with Pasquale all the time. Some airports are stricter than others....as are some airline employees. I walked Pasquale up and down the corridors of the Baltimore airport (wearing his belly band of course...dont want to make a mess) and noone said a word...not even TSA....in fact, they even stopped and complimented me on how cute he was. But then as soon as we got to the gate...one airline employee insisted he go in his carrier.... i think she just didnt like dogs. Pasquale usually does great on airplanes...falls right to sleep. Couldnt say that much for the 2 yr old sitting 5 rows behind us....screamed the entire flight!
