Parti's weren't introduced into AKC until what 2000? Those colors are a tri-color. I wish the yorkie standard would follow the silky standard but you don't see a parti silky in the ring. Judges know when a dog is dyed it comes off on their hands. I've seen light dogs bred to darker dogs produce nothing but the nice steel blue. The color is very attainable without enhancements absolutely! My homebred champion is still a nice dark steel blue, my Krissy who has 3 points and 5 years old but never finished because she is too small and spayed is a very nice dark steel blue. My Tucker on the other hand as he got older is a light yorkie but he's neutered and has never been used for breeding just because of him being light. Radar is a medium blue. The bitch I'm showing for someone else is a very nice dark steel blue. So yes, it can be done and is being done.
Does that answer your question?
Pastoral's Hit the Jackpot is a gorgeous DARK STEEL blue and absolutely stunning! So just because some will dye a dog doesn't mean everyone does. I'm just saying if you do it do it right never said it was the right thing to do. |
Yes, I'm sure there are some that can but the fact is the offspring may carry the gene for the lighter color.
Really it's no different then breeding a Parti carrier to a standard to take the gene recessive and as long as you continue to breed to a standard you can keep the gene recessive.
Another trend that should be of concern is breeders breeding the extreme doll faced yorkies.
Cute Yes, but can eventually wind up harming the dogs in the long run with breathing problem.
We have seen what can happens by changing the natural appearance of dogs and the health problems it has caused.
Take a look at the founding dogs and how they have changed over the last 100 + years. Terriers then had a nice nose length.
Breeders better wake up and take care that the dogs over the 100 years don’t turn out with Peke faces.
