Sorry if you are bored. Someone brought the Skye into this thread and it went from there.

But the yorkie parti gene didnt come from the Skye, period. The off-shoot of the Skye, the Paisely/ Clydsdale, is the dog that was used to get the beautiful silk hair on the Yorkie. Its very doubtful if the Maltese was used for this. Why breed for the wrong color and incorrect texture?

I'm guilty as the next...but we had veered off by quite a bit.

There are numerous threads debating biewer/partis and I'm sure there will many more. As far as this thread goes, I believe we've heard from the few YTCA breeders we are going to regarding the thread subject.

I wish all breeders would question potential new owners to the degree that Razz's (my parti boy) breeder did. By the time she finished questioning me, I felt very privileged to be approved for his ownership. I am aware of only a couple of other yorkie breeders that seem to have the same questioning criteria....Cher of Goldenray being one. I think it's kind of ironic, one exhibitor breeder that I know, hates the idea of partis/biewers and a parti breeder having the most thorough owner questioning of any breeders.

I agree wholeheartedly. I'll just toss in my two cents regarding something earlier in the thread. White coats can definitely be silky, and reflect light...I can tell you that first hand . And it makes sense to me, since white reflects light and black absorbs it. FWIW.

Do some breeders not exploit the Yorkshire Terrier? Tinys? Teacups etc etc.

They merely want to add a color variety. They want to improve the looks of the partis because they HAVE been exploited and mass produced and have lost quality.

The idea that they could some how change anything about the traditional standard, is ridiculous. That is not what they want.

Just listen with an open mind. There is no way that adding a color variety will affect the traditional yorkies in any way. There is room in this world for more than one color of yorkie.

If the YTCA would accept the color they could set the standards and rules and have some control. They are foolish to think that just because they DQ'd them, that they will disappear.

Genetics tells us this is not a good idea...The understanding of genetics tells us not to accept this...Not the lack of listening...The line HAS been drawn and again AKC will NOT accept anymore variations period!

Foolish, the YTCA is not. As long as the parti breeders have money to spend registering their dogs with AKC they will not disappear. That, unfortunately, is a fact that YTCA has been forced to accept. The fact that parti color and off color yorkies will continue to be a DQ is a fact that you will have to accept.
