| ![]() I personally do not care for the color and coat texture in the pictures that were posted. Nor do I think that is a correct Dark steel blue coat...Dark black maybe...but not blue. I have never really cared for the line, and have kept it from our dogs pedigrees. I have seen and went over dogs from this breeder and dogs 2 generations out, all were soft coated, none were silky. I have seen a few in pictures which appeared silky. I also know a couple people who have talked to him and said he was a joy to talk to...I think it is great when breeders help novices inquiring about the breed and showing. I do not think blanket statements can be made about any group of people... I would take a way too light silk coat over incorrect texture, but that is me and the decision I would make with my dogs. We do have one soft coated dog, she was carefully bred to a dog which does not have any soft coats in his direct 3 generations...her structure however is to die for and she has everything else!

| ![]() Terry will be home manning the kennel as I should have a gal in whelp at that time. I haven't talked with Suzie about her plans yet but I'm sure she'll be attending as well. We could have a regular convoy!!

| ![]() I want to thank Lisa Todd for posting the Parquins email. This thread has been very informative. After giving it some thought, I do think the Parquins email to Lisa was out of line. As the saying goes, 'He who lives in a glass house should not cast stones'. Breeding the perfect Yorkie is not an easy task when you consider all the various lines (and looks) in the U.S. and abroad and the various interpretations of the standard (beauty is in the eye of the beholder). What one breeder considers correct, another breeder will not. Also, no breeder is perfect. That is why show breeders sell many of their puppies as pet quality with limited registration. I try not to judge a breeder just by the bad Yorkies they have breed but also by the good they have done for the breed. It is a very difficult task producing top winning dogs and I know there are many on YT that have spent countless years dedicating their lives to the betterment breed and I applaud all of you....you are our mentors! ![]() |

Ch. Oznillion Dedication hAS became the breed record holder with 52 CCs also winning 48 BOBs, top ten toY group also including crufts 1988 and 2 bis and 3 RBIS at all breed championship shows. It is very hard to tell the texture of this dogs coat by the photo but his record wins says somthing about him. As far as coloring dogs in European lines it is certainly used all over usa as well. I don't know about the judging in any other countries but his track record says alot. Also he has produced many ch. big yorkies can be throw backs from 10 gen back. look at us humans you see that all the time. The yorkie did not start out small. this is just mo. I still love to look at all the european sites. I can say this that if you ever buy one of these dogs you would probably have to fly over to the country to see what you are buying because like any thing you can't tell by just pictures you have to see it in person.

Pedigrees can be "watered down", particularly after 3 generations. Unfortunately alot of times there can be many being bred after the line that haven't been bred carefully. Your Coffee and Coco are gorgeous.

| ![]() Thank you, we feel very blessed to have him! Quaker is a doll, he was our first show dog so we have made our fair share of mistakes with his coat, but he had a successful year in the ring last year...this year we are hunting majors! Keep your fingers crossed...lol. He has given us some beautiful babies...and a great, great start!

You are blessed to have such a wonderful start. I have heard Oliver described as #1 in the world. I have only seen him on TV and in magazines but he looks like he deserves the title. I'm sure you will have no trouble at all picking up those majors. Keep us updated on your success.

| ![]() Color (colour) has been a great controversy since stated even as far back as 1904 - mentioned in the book "The Tweenieth Century Dog," stated by Mr. F. Randall (well known breeder in South of England) he believed that a dark steel blue (not silver) was a great improvement on the pale-coloured dogs, which are easier to breed than the darker ones. And then 80 years later the color question still caused great discussion and tempers to flair with breeders being more inclined toward their own personal preferences. Color discussion has been going on for many, many years. JMO - In the past I have seen many darker colored yorkies with better toplines and better structure than the silver or lighter color yorkies. It is better now than what I saw back in the 80's though. JMO- Also you cannot really compare yorkies of the past to todays. Back in the 80's when I first showed yorkies - you saw more yorkies in the ring with thicker coats and more cottony coats. Today I see more silky coated. Which is an improvement. As far as different types of yorkies in Europe and here in the US - JMO - I believe that there are so many pedigrees mixed now with yorkies from US and Canada being exported to Europe and around the world - their dogs also being imported here to the US. If you look at pedigrees - I see many European dogs with US and Canada lines in them and visa versa. You can look here in the US too and see many different looks of yorkies too. It really depends on what you are breeding - what look and lines to what as to what you will get or hope to get. Here are some interesting numbers - back in 1967 there were 1,213 yorkies exported from England and most of them arriving here in the US. In 1968 1,743, in 1969 2,361, and by the mid 1970's 2,805. And that was back then. Today I believe it is even higher. ( Numbers stated in the "The Book of the Yorkshire Terrier," by Brearley) I have also seen many Eurpoean dogs also very tiny as also very light to dark. I see this also here in the US. T.
