Knowing she is safe and in a rescue being taken care of and loved should
make you feel better. Your only creating more stress for yourself trying
to get back money already gone plus now worring about spaying her before
she leaves with no money to do it.
Do yourself a favor and call a rescue. The sooner you do that the better
off both of you will be.
It's only a suggestion and in no way am I trying to tell you what to do,
only trying to find a way out for you before you get yourself stressed
out more.
In all honesty if I had to re-home Buddy my only concern would be that
he be loved and safe. I have spent a small fortune on him in 5yrs and I
would not expect one nickle back. The important thing here is the welfare
of your pet.

I took the time to make a phone call and I've no idea if this vet would be acceptable but found one considerably less expensive.

I was quoted $103.50 for spaying and an additional $32.50 for pre-op bloodwork. They can schedule her for as early as this coming Tues.

I know it is a lot of money to lose but Emma's overall health and welfare is what is most important.

I have had to rehome a few adults (maltese) who turned out not to be breeding quality and I did lose a lot of money. You just have to live and learn.
But here is what I did and I suggest to try the same for Emma.

I advertised them in an ad stating that before they left to go to their new homes they would be spayed/neutered, no exceptions. The price of course was very low, just enough to cover the surgery and other costs.
After interviewing several people, I found the perfect couple. I had them pay the amount up front, of course with a contract stating that it was paid in full. I then used that money to get the dog spayed. After it was done from recovering they were then allowed to pick up the dog and take him home. During the recovery time they were allowed to visit, so they felt reassured about it all. Of course they knew all of this when they agreed to it. This way you know that the dog will be spayed/neutered and you will have the cost to do it.

If someone is interested enough in Emma, and truly wants her and only wants the best for her, it shouldn't be a problem for them to agree to this. If not, then they really aren't the best home for her.

Pictures of the little girl!
I just took these a few minutes ago. She had a bath 2 days ago, is well fed while she's with me and not treated any differently than Teiya. I hope these pictures reflect that and despite the fact that this situation is difficult, she IS being taken care of. I've been working with her to help her establish her confidence but I still can't get those ears to come up.

Poor baby. She needs to be spoiled.

I just really have a hard time believing that if everyone pushing the rescue of Emma were adopting your first Yorkie or an addition to your family would be able to do it. It's IDEAL and it's easy to say. But if you had just invested $1150 in Emma and come to find out she was not a fit for your home would then scrape up the extra amount to have her spayed and basically give her away.

If there are indeed that many of you out there then my hat is off to you and perhaps you would like to adopt Emma and do just that?

I, however; work two jobs for my family, parrots, and dogs. I can say that while it's money that was saved, spent and would not have been spent if I could not of afford to. I am still not willing to just eat the loss. Her adoption was something that was saved for as a result my wife, and children expected an addition to our family. I work far to hard for the money and if I wanted to give it away I would have donated it to a rescue organization rather than use it for the adoption of Emma.

If that's shallow then I guess that I am a bad person but how many of you can honestly put yourself in our shoes and just continue to selflessly continue to hand over money as a result of you being ripped off? It's not an ideal situation for Emma but in the end she is not being abused and her life is not in danger whether she is with us or the seller. It's not ideal for her to go back to the seller given her attitude but it's what needed to happen and Emma could still of been FAR worse off, no doubt she was not abused by the seller. But she was put in the middle of an unfortunate situation.

Regarding a flight back to the seller, the only reason that I would not want to fly her to her adoptive home is because they need to meet and interact with her. We all take our dogs in the car and various other places, it's not cruel to ship a dog. They all spend time in a crate at some point or another, they are not being hurt or emotionally distressed so some extreme degree. The airlines are actually quite accommodating with pets, now days at least.

This just really bugs me, there is so much stress to do the right thing for Emma. I will always do the right thing for any pet. But it's just not realistic to continue to shell out money for a dog that was imposed on us in the first place. It would be a different story if she was there with us to stay.

Stop and SERIOUSLY put yourself in our shoes for a moment. You don't really know what you would do until you were in that situation. Everything changes when things are happening to you, it's human nature.

I agree, it's absolutely ridiculous too ask these people to take a $1150 loss. She will not get back what she paid, but she CAN recoup some and still find this baby a good home!!

Please you guys, don't start the same nastiness that caused the other thread to get closed. we all know about the breeder and everything that has been done by both parties involved in this situation. This thread was started soley for the purpose of finding Emma a good home. Everything else needs tp be laid aside.

We've absolutely been in that very situation with our Harlequin Macaw. Money was not an issue and never is with something like that.

Somehow though Emma being dumped into our lap just does not extend the same sympathy. I feel bad for her and I play with her and scratch her etc... but there has just been no bond like there has been with other pets. I care that she is ok, and taken care of. But I still want my money back. It's something that I would have just as easily sided with all of you and ideally I do. But realistically I'm still not willing to just take the loss, if that makes me a horrible person then I guess that I am and as much as I want to I really can't help the way that I feel

I do not think it is unreasonable for her to at least ask for a rehoming fee...it's done all the time and in the case, perfectly understandable....not $1100 but something. I don't see why anyone would be opposed to paying it either if they truely want Emma and are serious about making her a part of their family.

I would indeed get her spayed. I would ask as many places as I could trying to get the most reasonable price. I think the best you could do on rehoming is probably just cover her spaying fees.

I'm sorry, no one will come close to pay what you guys did because I agree with many others that said it was way too excessive to begin with.

It's a rock and a hard place, but if you can't afford it I would indeed turn her over to a rescue if I could not spay/find her a home..even after thinking long and hard if I were in your shoes. It's that or keep a dog that is all ready costing me more money to keep, care for, and in vet fees for my other dog it fights with..I hate to sound insensitive but I think the longer you keep clinging to getting reimbursement for Emma from some source (including rehoming) the longer you hold on to her making her chances of rehoming somewhere she fits becoming smaller and smaller. My guess is she will just continue to become more aggressive and uncontrollable in the current situation.

I wish you guys all the best and I truly hope you and Emma find the end result that is best for all.
